There was a bit more to it: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/San_Francisco_Canyon_Company Microsoft also got a patent cross-licensing deal with Apple, IE shipping as the default browser on Macs (a blow against Netscape), and a settlement on

Apple never licensed OS X to clone makers. The clone era was very short (at most 1993-1997), and ended while the Classic MacOS was current. OS X didn't ship until 2001.

Safari actually handles this case intelligently -- it dynamically removes overlapping prefixes from tab titles. Looks like neither Chrome or Firefox do the same.

"Very Low Cost" is my guess. Maybe it's the Apple IIc, which was released in 1984 for $1295.

Oh my. It uses all these inane macros (in mac.h): #define BEGIN { #define END } #define IF if( #define THEN ){ ... Style was a little different in 1979!

How on earth did they have a 30% failure rate, but not notice until after they had printed 1.1 billion notes? I thought the mint was extremely stringent about their QA!

I saw "Nothing but net" used as a slogan for a dialup Internet product in 1995 . It was a little too precious, even fifteen years ago.

In a finance context, MM means million.

Citation please. Assuming you meant Fluoride: it's neither heavy nor a metal.

For the millionth time: Fortune's "Top 100 Employers" list is not an objective ranking of every employer in the US. It relies primarily on unverified employer-provided data. Many companies, like Apple, realize that it's mostly a PR game an

BJ's wasn't there way back in 2000, either, IIRC -- it was the Peppermill.

Exactly. Motorola doesn't have a great track record at successfully integrating software companies that it acquires. It feels like where software goes to die.

Those are the "top 100" of companies that were willing to submit detailed statistics to Fortune. It's by no means an impartial or complete sample. Nobody at Apple thinks it's worth the bother and loss of privacy. And I guarantee Apple isn't

Apple was, and is, incorporated in California. Perhaps you're thinking of Braeburn Capital, their cash-management subsidiary which they (relatively recently) created in Nevada.

Not as new as you'd think. CNET did this 15 years ago, when they were just starting up. They ran an animation of how O.J. Simpson supposedly committed the murders: http://www2.iath.virginia.edu/spirit_trouts/mnookin/simpson.... Incredibly

Have you tried the "All-in-one" layout in Xcode? (Look in the "General" preferences section.) I find it a lot more usable than the default lots-of-windows setting, especially if you have more than one project open.

Everyone does this sort of thing! The first time I saw it named (as "One Free Interaction") was this blog post: http://www.cooper.com/journal/2009/01/one_free_interaction.h...
