As far as I understand, TCO (or PTC?) gives you "structured goto", i.e something that would be a pain to write as a loop, won't either mess up the state/scope, but still achieve that "loop speed" without stress

Right, but optimizing tail calls won't lose that structure. But sure, just using goto is a slippery slope to confusion.

The parent mentioned keeping a list of functions called, so a note on calling frobnicate_something isn't lost.

The "+" there is most likely the one-or-more quantifier from regular regular expression syntax.

Right, but the article itself is about how to do Elm better. Anyway, it probably isn't much of an issue to them, but, to hide the bottom popup Firefox's reader mode didn't work, so tried disabling js and discovered the iss

Can anyone more knowledgeable on Elm comment on the "statelessness" as there still is a state. There isn't an explicit type alias for the state nor is there an explicit update though. Maybe "implicit state" would be

AFAIK to reverse engineer Asahi runs a virtual machine between macOS and hardware. If Apple made changes in the code then perhaps these helped make the instruction logs more obvious as to what the GPU was doing.

Occasionally when touching on this topic here or elsewhere, or when searching for it on the web, I haven't found an elaborate explanation to why exactly virtual DOM is (as it does seems wasteful, at least for someone looking from the

The real DOM is always manipulated. Given a state change the entire virtual DOM is generated, then diffed with the real DOM and then changed parts are put into the real DOM (= real DOM is manipulated). What I wonder is whether the reason fo

Virtual DOM is an unnecessary overhead, is what the parent is saying. There is probably a good reason popular frameworks insist on using it though.

You say you also have a windows machine, but if you were to use only linux then I would seriously consider using nixos. I have three desktops and one macbook pro (2015) all of which run off of the same configuration.nix and the home-manager

This is kind of what Copilot does for github, with AI in between to search for appropriate code. Perhaps SE could be added to their input data.

Did a bigger school project in m4, learnt it for the task, only later realizing that PHP which I already knew would have been much better.

They are just switching from "pure blood" algorithms like merge sort or quicksort, to hybrid and heuristics-based ones. (Not to say these advances are irrelevant though.)

As pointed out elsewhere, the product (with waiting list) was announced here 8 months ago where open-sourcing was suggested (privacy and security and all that), but it seems that it hasn't been important to them.

In emacs a shell is like a text buffer where you can simply search or move around as you would do in a text file. To get command history you'd just execute `history` and then ctrl+s (find) it, or move to it with the cursor.

Is multiline editing popular/useful? Thus far, the only occasions I've seen it shown is when someone is demonstrating it.
