Yeah, I exaggerated a bit. It's just that where it used to be postgres + node + react + html, then the middle two have been cut. And I'm actually not contesting the value of a regular back-end and a front-end framework: postgrest

What a neat web development stack, just html & database! No back-end and no front-end required.

The way I read it, both methods will continue to be available, so I guess it's a question of defaults. (So it doesn't really affect anyone's workflow)

As a fellow haskeller, I agree on that the language has very good abstraction capabilities. On the specific example in the blog post though I can only say that there are so many times I've been down the clean code path and it's

It won't have a high production rate in the beginning anyway, so we'll have time to see how it goes. I personally think it's great that they are attempting to build such a thing. EDIT: Media sure tries to put negative stories

AFAIK, srid hasn't "maliciously edited package manifests" as you put it. It's more like the moderators and srid don't agree on some off-topic topic, so the moderators (IMO) abused their power and banned him. Also, a

If the issue is about preferences then what behavior is there to change? He's just supporting his case. Looks to me like the moderators have decided that their preference is "right" and the banned person is wrong, and then go

Right, I get that there are topics that are more sensitive than others and there are links and images which I guess are forbidden to use (a swastika for example). But if the issue at hand is about eating meat (?), then is having a meat loaf

But there is literally no trace of wrongdoing. If you're going to sanction somebody, keep at least some screenshots around. Briefly digging in NixOS repo and the Discord I could find nothing even questionable the banned person did. Reg

There was apparently a list of three conditions on the Discord profile: (1) remove link to homepage, (2) remove the steak background image, (3) don't participate in toxic threads. We've yet to see any links to these toxic threads.

Pretty sure htmx is a framework, it adds a new abstraction on top of HTML to integrate server rendered templates. You can then amend it with some UI library (e.g Material) on the front to make it all look nice.

Versioning isn’t an exact science, and people use whatever they see fit, both for technical but also marketing purposes.

Just as controversial, I use Haskell. Everything has a type, no more interpolation foot-guns, etc. And it pays off in slowly building a library on top. (Much if not all of it applies to Swift as well I believe.)

This doesn't make JavaScript actually run in parallel, does it? I.e if there is any IO to wait on then JS runs, but if there are multiple pure JS asyncs scheduled to run then these will still run one at a time? Secondly, there is async

I don't get then, how the paper "solves Othello": how does it determine the perfect game (why is it perfect)?

Not the author, but on a quick read, everything here is straight-up web standards so there is nothing to server-side render.

You'll only be able to send client certificates which match the server's CA cert, and if any are found the browser will also prompt you to whether to send it (there'll also be a dropdown when there are more than one).

The issue is that if you do have the client certificate, then (as sibling suggests) now you need to configure your proxy to decide on how to reply to pre-flight requests. Doable but application logic has now leaked into proxy configuration.

The things that get me thinking are: - for a CA that is business (or a non-profit), trust is their product, and if Let's Encrypt fails at it's job then clients can go elsewhere - not sure but in EU I would assume they are going to

mTLS has warts when used cross-origin. Fetch spec says that pre-flight requests mustn't include client certificates[1], so as a consequence servers behind mTLS authenticated proxy won't get a chance to reply to those pre-flight. Y

They might wish but the fundamentals of Linux (to borrow a term from finance) might be stronger here. What if Linux had a Windows subsystem instead so one could run windows apps securely and without the adware?
