My first thought too. I can't stand Amazon nowadays, even if you know what you want exactly you still need to deal with load of counterfeit and bogus junk.

I got a cheap used original PS4 and it wouldn't power up unless you put pressure on the mainboard, right around the PSU. I took pieces of wood, and a clamp and applied pressure there and it worked. The same pressure is applied if you u

Wow that amber screen brings back memories, thank you for sharing. My first helpdesk job included mainframe support, and I got to use one of the old IBM quad screen plasma terminals they still had there. Our ticketing system was still on th

I sometimes get in the zone a little playing Eternal, it's fun when it clicks but I can't zone in completely. I'm also currently playing GT7 and if I'm medicated and JUST tired enough I can fall into this intense zone wh

I think that being a "cool person" aligns with not wearing things that others would find offensive. Unless you know the target audience well enough that it would be well received. Carry on then.

I came to say the same thing, but that was me looking at it's practicality as a clock. If you zone out a bit and watch, you can see each tick form the time and quickly collapse, drawing a parallel to the nervous ephemeral nature of lif

If you close a particularly young card, it can also bring your score up if the others are older. Last I looked it used an average for the age of all your credit lines.

It would be fitting, there is an episode of Nathan For You where he devises a scheme to advertise a restaurant to a bathroom stall's captive audience.

Same here, my first programming was done on an Aquarius at around 8yo. The keyboard it had was awful, but I got to learn some BASIC. IT has been a huge part of my life since. While thankful for that path and what it has afforded my family,

Thank you, I was just wondering a few days ago how it worked - if it was all an approximation, manual inputs, or some level of automation. Time for an anecdote; Years ago, when the pizza tracker was new, I worked on a team that deployed

Same here, I've been fully remote since the beginning of 2020 (Covid) and its been a blur. With young children around its difficult to get lost in work, and hobbies are possible but its a hard push to fit them in, so they are relegated

Can you elaborate on `My mother and I both were very aware of some of our symptoms, but it was incredibly easy to associate them with other things we had come in contact with. Mold and fragrances are two that come to mind.`? My mother and I

I would think air (line) drying would be better in terms of microplastics, since there is no tumbling. Would it be safe to say that (mostly) frictionless line drying would shed fewer particles than tumble drying?

Ideally, there isn't much to talk about wrt the work you are doing. It should be covered in daily interactions and regular scrum/status updates. Everyone is different, but 30 minutes of what should be a casual conversation is hard

As a father, I like reading to my kids and I know one day they won't ask or I won't be able to. I've wanted to record readings of some of their favorite books to pass on to them, but if I don't get the chance this seems

Its better to not focus on the amounts, as everyone has "fuck you money" at some level. I see it as something that scales based on your financial state. Surely you've spent some amount of money on frivolity.

If you loved your job before, be honest with your management how you feel. Explain to them you really want to do, and what the final outcome is likely to be if you can't find joy in your position again. A situation I was in was similar

Ahead of its time with absurdist packaging and documentation. I wish it had caught on more, and not only in niche products. Though, I suppose it would get old if every product was presented that way.

That is great, I'm glad they honored the warranty so well for you. Mine was really old - an early aluminum frame, it wasn't welded but bonded together - but now I wonder what they would have done if I had asked.

Glad this had a happy ending. I'm still torn up about my own bike, stolen in broad daylight. It was my fault - it wasn't locked up. It was an old bonded aluminum frame Trek, it squeaked when you bore down on it but it was upgraded

I do wonder myself if there is some research on this, it is irrationally annoying when I hear an echo of myself while talking, so much so that I just can't proceed, it would be nice to know why that is.

Yeah the damp / mold smell is a no-go for me. I rented a place in a popular east coast resort town for the family, and the first thing that hit me was the damp and moldy smell of an existing or recent moisture problem. Not an AirBnB, b
