What don't you like about it? I had to use it at my last company and was very impressed all-round.

Not having to deal with failover and scaling is also handy.

Interesting. At which point is this recovery a problem? Id assume it would only be recovering on the slave since there will have been a newly promoted master after failover?

How do you propose enforcing that? Telling society 'use less' doesn't work, just like saying 'smoking kills, stop it' doesn't work: you have to either enforce some policy like tax hikes or graphic images on pac

First of all, it's clearly not the only way out, because the comment I replied to shows at least another way worth exploring. Second of all, me reducing my fossil fuel usage to 0 wouldn't magically drop industrial fossil fuel usag

If you can't already touch type: cover the letters on the keys or get a board with no letters, switch to colemak/dvorak if you can be bothered, and practise on something like https://www.keybr.com/ which gives you

Kind of off topic, but it's not the speed it takes to move between rooms that is the issue, it's the fact they are different rooms. It appears the brain ties thoughts to context and when the context changes we have a weaker tie to

On the flip side, I found it so frustrating learning colemak on the ErgoDox that I ended up learning a lot of new keybinds for things to save extra typing!

I'm sure some companies are doing it properly, but I think for the most part it's 'unlimited holiday if you get the work done', which turns into 'holiday if you get the work done', and there will always be enou

I don't know about that. There are a lot of non verbal cues like body language, eye contact, etc. Then there are a lot of different ways to start verbal communication that are less strong than other ways.

I lived in the countryside and envied the kids that could walk home from school, walk to each others houses and hang out after school etc. I think you just always want what you don't have.

I set monthly reminders to keep me on track this year and they helped a bit, I might try weekly too this year. Course correcting once a year is definitely not enough.

It would be interesting to know what proportion of employers even look at your Github, let alone dig into detail enough to investigate your side projects to this level. I work on quite a few side projects in my own time because I enjoy it,

I guess it depends on which direction you're coming from. From a traditional server side point of view, you're reducing the server work to just that first page load and making the client do the rest.

But they're going to have to wait for the initial page load either way, whether it's rendered server side and sent over or they're shown some static content until its rendered client side?

I thought the idea was to render it server side just once, then have the client take over for all future requests? In which case it's 10x slow for the first page load, but all future requests are just hitting API endpoints and can be f

I'm not OP but I took it as 'get a life [outside of work]', i.e. don't get bogged down in the crazy 100-hour work weeks and stressing about climbing corporate ladders if it's not what you enjoy. What you do with you
