I ended up with a checkbox plus a mandatory input field requesting a reason for one irreversible action in a system I worked on. Just adding a checkbox and later a popup with an additional warning wasn't enough. An undo function is obv

I also have three Chromecasts and occasionally 7-8 mobile devices that are connected to them in multi-AP network. I have mostly Sony devices and I think they have a rather aggressive powersave profile. The last 3-6 month or so, the mobile d

What the existing screen scraper companies have done, is to make sure the psd2 directive will allow screen scraping as a fallback method if they are not satisfied with the bank API:s. That's because the directive is actually a competi

It's winter, the bees were hibernating. They won't be able to fly for more than a second or two in the cold if they were warm enough to get going.

The article made me think of that it's still a long way to a adaptive classifier that could be shown one of two examples instead of thousands.

An interesting real-life example of failed economical incitements is a case here a kindergarten started to charge an extra cost for "late pickups", ie later than the what the contract stipulated. The end result was that "lat

I once had a Peugeot with "sport leather seats", or something - it was a rather nice coarse woven cloth in some synthetic material in the centre, and nice leather everywhere else. Awesome. In my current car, I really wanted the ad

Radioactive material messes up certain types of fire detectors, and more advanced detectors detects also when they go outside their working parameters. A plausible explanation would be that the garbage made some fire detectors in a power pl

Long term, there is no alternative but solar, either direct or indirect. (But but not too indirect such as oil...) The energy budget is set. It's the spending that needs to be controlled.

I blamed Google cloud print for a while, but the printer's own Android driver also prints in 50 dpi or something, so it might be Android's fault. Or possibly the PDF tool. I can't see why someone thinks it's a good idea
