Same for 40 kHz or 48 kHz or anything above, but there is (was) a specific reason why 44.1 got chosen.

Fun fact: nowadays music is still distributed mostly in the 44.1 kHz sample rate, and this odd rate derives from how much it was comfortable to store on a PAL/NTSC video tape using devices similar to Technics SV-P100 (when video tapes

If we look at a (or the only?) popular multi-gear EV which is Porsche Taycan, it uses the upper gear for almost anything except for sport-mode launches (i.e. a very narrow use case).

I still use MD5 as a 128-bit checksum algorithm that is fast and universally supported and compatible everywhere. In this role it's still useful, just don't expect it to be a cryptographic hash anymore.

This is only about the master password. I assume it won't have any stupid requirements like "include at least one digit", and will instead assess the amount of entropy, allowing passphrases to be used.

If it's just a "planning my first startup" stage and not an existing enterprise of some non-zero size, I'd suggest starting from the book "The Lean Startup" by Eric Ries and other general "startup mentalit

Looks similar to piezo "clickers" that are supposed to help against mosquito bites. But is the working principle based on temporarily damaging nerve endings? If so, is there a potential for a long-term negative effect with active

So, why are center positive barrel jacks risky when used with rechargeable batteries? I tried googling and asking ChatGPT about that to no avail.

As someone who only cares about v4, I periodically wonder why don't I just use fully random 128-bit identifiers instead (without the version information).

Here in Ukraine trying to estimate enemy's drone and missile production capacities by serial numbers of their parts is quite a mundane task these days.

Fun fact: vinyl has constant angular velocity, not constant linear velocity. It means that sound fidelity gets progressively worse while going from outer tracks to inner tracks.

For me personally, the main argument against Telegram is that its development and operations team is physically located in Russia. This means that they can very easily be bribed and/or intimidated into any type of collaboration with th

It was the same in Ukraine as well (see Ukrainian-Soviet War of 1917–21), but there was more time to cover the traces and erase this from memory.
