Why did it cost nokia and intel 1B to build the original os? Or does this figure actually include hardware dev as well?

It’s so annoying that none of the corps using it aren’t putting a cent in and they ask individual developers to donate. Meh

I’m a bit confused, the top comment describes how time is estimated, which sounds very fair to the mechanic, so why the mechanics are not paid enough eventually? Is it because the estimation doesn’t include the “openning up” process, or wha

I had tons of wierd boot/reboot issues with my old dell precision m4800. It stuck before boot and required voodoo rituals to finally boot successfully into linux or windows. Now it wasn’t used for some years and having installed recent

Hmm.. I have a few questions: 1. How is the cache invalidated to avoid reading stale data? 2. If multi az setup is for high availability then I guess the only traffic between zones must be replication from the active one to the standby zone

How is this technically done? How does it split the query and aggregates the results?

Pretty cool. Unfortunately, there aren’t enough benefits in webdev to include this technique. Simple human readable flags would usually win because there is no requirement for high performance or efficiency in general (down to a certain lev

What we really need is to declare Chrome public utility and national security critical. Then have a steering committee and open transparent development that benefits users first. This goes in hand with Chrome being taken away from Google, a

Maybe it’s comedy and not satirical? I’m not an expert, it was a funny read so I figured it’s satirical..

“Writing the code” is not the same as programming. The ai WRITES most of the code for me, but I’m still doing 95% of the PROGRAMMING.

I did that with ES to squeeze performance but IIRC it didn’t really produce meaningful results. Otherwise, for most use cases an integration is better imho than embedding stuff that is when you have a full software service such as keycloack

Side note 1: ES can also be embedded in your app (on the JVM). Note 2: I actually used RocksDB to solve many use cases and it’s quite powerful and very performant. If anything from this post take this, it’s open source and a very solid buil

I am truly excited to see others are thinking in the same trajectory. I’ve been contemplating on these ideas myself for quite long time. The service providers should provide basic low level infrastructure, not own or access our data. I have

I’m very curious to hear your experience building greenfield projects with perl today. And what are the main advantages you feel that you get from it?

By the end of the day it’s not black or white there are trade offs. So special hardware is simply a no go zone for me. What happens if you want to leave the cloud and host on premises its the activation of the lock-in mechanism. Thanks I ca

Openrouter has a chat built in as well. Also, since librechat was mentioned, the self hosted option I currently prefer is openwebui - connected to openrouter and gemini here.
