Technically, all the messages castling.club itself generates are all public, but the rest of the thread can be private depending on user settings. One thing that's kind of cool: Each message and game detail page can also be requested a

That sounds like quite a bit of work, haha. I don't plan on going there myself. :) I'm not sure if clients even have functionality to integrate? Most have an 'open in browser' option that I guess could work, but you'

A GUI is an interesting idea, but I don't plan on going there myself. As for open-sourcing, I'm considering it! I'm probably going to wait a little bit until the dust settles, before deciding.

Author here! Let's hope my little hobby server holds up against HN. :) This was very much an experiment in building something that talks ActivityPub Server-to-Server. Chess happened to be a fun, not too difficult idea to get the experi

Dotfiles are like code, and need to be maintained. Some upgrade will break your custom configuration, and then you have to dive into docs again. I try to make few customizations to the default macOS install, and just roll with the changes c

I think they were referring to the little card animation on the side, that shows a card with Visa debit at some point. (Note sure if that also answers backend issuer. There's also one with Mastercard in the animation.)

Sounds like an issue with the app. Usually, apps have a 'redeem' button somewhere, that checks with the App Store to see if you did the purchase before, exactly for this scenario. (e.g. Monument Valley does this, and also some app

You mention a lot of stuff that's in the same '.NET world' skellera mentioned, but the currently dominant GUI platform is the web, and neither is going to do take over. There's also still embedded software, hardware desc

I think that's the point. I'm personally worried Microsoft may have a very narrow view of what GitHub is. A lot of tech hosted there doesn't even run on Windows, or isn't even related to software. (legal, political, docs

Sounds like a great achievement! Congrats to the team! So is this a completely separate implementation from Qt proper? Do they share some API and tooling?

I was confused by your last paragraph. I now understand by crypto community, you meant cryptocurrency community. (And 'built on crypto' is also talking about the currency features, not encryption features.) I've only ever hea

I expect Apple would either switch entirely, or not. But fracturing the desktop doesn’t seem like something they’d do. ARM would have to be the clear path forward.

Static building, as mentioned by others, also works for Rust. Portier builds this way: https://github.com/portier/portier-broker/blob/master/Docker... This uses the awesome clux/muslrust Docker imag

Considering pointer arithmetic is unsafe, there are no other interpretations, I think? I can’t think of an example where this would mask a mistake in Rust. As for confusion, both are accepted. I imagine clippy will eventually have advice on

Not sure I follow, we run nginx and certbot in Docker too? It's just that we manually manage its configuration, and need the extra (not too cumbersome) steps to get a cert up. I usually copy a vhost config from one of our templates, co

I would argue that you are using images wrong. An image should not contain credentials, and should be independent of deployment. We use the same image to test, deploy to staging, etc. We always have a manually managed reverse proxy in front

Koa has been doing async for a while. It's basically connect with promises instead of callbacks: `app.use(async (ctx, next) => { await next(); });`
