I've had this criticism many times in the past, but after doing exclusively JS rendered DOM for about 5 years now, I personally could never go back. I write large-scale web front-ends as my day-job, they used a number of tools, but the

We don't, it is an application. All the static pages are just HTML, the application is not.

This is absolutely true, for fairly simple sites like news sites and forums, HTML is great. For building applications it is tedious. The web platform is amazing for applications, when you don't treat the web like a piece of paper.

True, perhaps a better description would be that HTML is a sibling to XML. Whether HTML was intended for humans or not, it isn't in my opinion a particularly nice way to develop applications. Don't get me wrong, I love web applications, but

Open a text editor Think of what you want to do. Try and do it. If you don't know how, google what you are trying to do. repeat.

I'm always glad to see people creating HTML in JS in a sane way. That said, I think the API could be a little less verbose, but then I'm biased towards https://github.com/KoryNunn/crel :P

You pretty much agreed with everything I wrote.. Therefore, I agree with everything you wrote. Yes, jQuery is a time saving tool, and a really good one at that. The problem isn't jQuery, it's the developers that abuse it. Oh.. Déjà vu...

This is the kind of thing I was hoping to inspire. Sure, use jQuery, but use it wisely. That said, literally never make DOM in it, for so many reasons...

Hi there, I'm Kory. I'm not surprised to see a large amount of disagreement and anger, partly because it threw this post together pretty quickly and i probably didn't explain things as well as i could have, and partly because, well, a lot o
