None of that applies to individually wealthy people, who have a long history of going bankrupt.

They said that, but there is also no evidence of them negotiating in good faith. Showing up to the table and just dragging the process out for years isn’t negotiating, it’s an act.

Solar and wind is more of a nat gas and coal substitution. They are still heavily dependent on oil for transportation.

No, being mandated to not do something is absolutely not the same as being mandated to do something.

They don’t apply to recipes nor what you make in your home, which is what open source operating systems are equivalent to.

There is no such thing as “qualified”. The engineers actually doing the work definitely get a seat at the table, otherwise it’s an academic circle jerk detached from reality.

The world was changing to remote employment. At the time the thinking is that it was here to stay so lots of tech companies invested in making tools for that world.

Being blanket against CBP is a position without an ethical backbone. It’s just a childish burying head in the sand. Every semi stable country enforces its immigration laws and checks passports of visitors. Claiming the US doing so is someho

Defense doesn’t pay better than regular tech. The people in defense are doing it because they believe in helping the govt.

> Moderator responded that they couldn't find them qualified enough to take part in the discussion. With a gate keeping attitude like that, are you really surprised engineers don’t want to participate?

You still take ethics. The only difference is political views. It’s very easy to be consistent from an ethical perspective if you are convinced of a government’s particular powers. The government has a monopoly on violence. Whether you want

Speak for yourself. This is impacting open source and is fundamentally against the open source ethos. Governments demanding computers enforce age is as dumb as governments demanding books, pen, and paper enforce age. This is unrelated to in

They were nerds but not computer nerds. “tech nerd” would be someone building computers, learning how to program a bit, war driving, etc

It’s still tainted though. Even if OP buries that underlying transaction, the other people he is talking to might (like I would) assume OP is bullshitting to placate me and secure my vote.

No, the answer to every security concern can be “don’t attach it to a network” in your view. That’s why it’s so incredibly stupid to not have availability in the framework.

Not really. Sometimes markets fail. It was not a management failure when construction companies had to lay people off during the GFC.

This is extremely naive. A huge portion of industries are cyclical by the nature of the markets they target. Mining, farming, oil, solar, construction, child care, elder care, etc all have waxing and waning demand. It’s completely detached

> Models are getting 99% more efficient every 3 years The LLM industry has only be around for like 4 years. Extrapolating trends from that is pretty naive.

Your comment was better without that edit. It’s an appeal to absurdity that falls flat because nuclear plants and oil refineries have been built near population centers in the US (including in California) without problem. California had had

Non sequitur. Superfund sites come from poor industrial process byproduct controls. They can still happen from highly regulated industries that are approved. Posting a list of them as a justification for red tape that blocks industries does

No it’s not. Unless you’re certified by the government that carries no weight. That’s no different than “sovereign citizens” claiming they have rights to drive without licenses.

No it doesn’t. Getting an engineering degree does not allow you to use the protected title. The protected titles are gate kept by associations and are not tied to knowledge.
