No you don’t. The CAs are only necessary if you want random public devices to be able to validate your domain. And you don’t have to trust the registrar because of what I just said. You don’t need to depend on PKI.

Using a website is a strange example because that’s not at all how web services are architected. The only pieces that would have images in memory is a file serving layer on the server side and the user's browser.

The cognitive dissonance in the article when it comes to Signal and Protonmail is the same thing the author is deriding with people trusting Apple et al. Apple has far more to lose monetarily than protonmail if it comes out that Apple sells

Companies frequently do this kind of thing when they don’t want you to use them as promo material through an implied partnership. Because spacex also makes satellites, they don’t want confusion about which satellites are theirs. “MyCompany

The problem is people say the same thing without saying race. “Did anyone see this suspicious character?” with a picture from a doorbell cam of a black guy. It’s still obviously racist to everyone but it’s not reportable or treated as such.

You would be surprised how little in common you can have with your neighbors. You likely don’t shop at the same places, don’t frequent the same restaurants, bars, parks, etc. It’s not even politics related, people just don’t like the same a

The rust produced by LLMs is quite bad. It’s overly verbose (misses combinators) and often subtly wrong (swallows errors on result types when it shouldn’t). A single errant collect or clone call can destroy your performance and LLMs sprinkl

The claim was “leaks are hard to code by accident”. I agree with gp that this is false. Preventing leaks is explicitly not a goal of rust and making lifetimes correct often involves giving up and making unnecessary static lifetimes. I see t

“Aesthetic only” bugs for a project entirely for aesthetics can easily kill the usage of it. Nobody cares about a CVE-free rendering library if it can’t render things correctly.
