It's not only the worst part of capitalism, advertising works by exploiting human psychology. Once you see the ad its effects take place and there's no way to avoid it. There's no way to mentally forget stuff like brand recog

Using AWS does not magically give you a HA infrastructure when you have a complicated service oriented architecture like Netflix. All the stuff mentioned here are still relevant even if they're running their own DC.

Not really. Fresh grad Wall Street analysts are paid probably comparable or worse than first year google engineers. You don't start making good money until much later on from bonuses. And at that point no one will call you in for a Chr

In my mind it's not so much that they're smarter but rather the value they add is more easily measurable. If the trades they make for a hedge fund creates a 10 millions dollars a year profit then it's easy to demand a million

This is not odd at all in work places. Salary has a huge correlation with the demand when you joined and how hard you negotiate. There's a reason employers try their best to keep salaries a secret.
