Not to mention that the majority of 'big' ideas are published simultaneously by multiple people at different locations. Big name scientists are usually the ones happy with publishing a half baked idea instead of being universally

How are any of those things bad? You need to look after your interests first. Your anecdotes do that. It's not your job to make sure everyone has a "fair" life. You job is to make sure you get as much as you can. That's

There are at least three levels of indirection between memory and registers and there is no language that allows you to access that directly. It lets you see more of the stack but not all of it. Before I coded in assembly for example I had

They don't transform memory, they load memory into registers, transform the registers and (maybe) store the registers values back into the memory. The difference is profound and until you code in assembly you have no idea why (or that)

That's C with pointers. Assembly without registers is absolutely pointless since the only thing that matters in any flavor of assembly is how to get data into registers when you need it and then remove it before you override it.

And yet everyone downloaded the client for facebook on their mobile. This isn't the 00s, people don't expect the browser to the the only thing they use to connect to the world any more.

I can pay for it by running a local node. Aether works that way. It is missing the anonymity OP wants but everything else is there.

Gnome is notoriously terrible for not accepting patches outside of redhat employees. I tried adding a patch to gnome in the 00s and the number of hoops they expected me to jump through along with the tone made me never install their de agai

You will find that the people who were on the unsavoury bbs are the people who are against censorship today. Out of the half dozen people I know from that period in my life (2000-2006) not one has had a kind thing to say about facebook, goo

The idea of a protected class is a fascist one. A citizen is a citizen is a citizen. Everyone has the same rights and protections. How the same people who complained about apartheid can then reinvent it in under 20 years is beyond me.
