Whilst I'm sure you're right, I can't think of a single instance where a compromised private key was used to impersonate a website through MiTM. 2+ year expiry on certificates has been pretty commonplace until LetsEncrypt

100% disagree with this. There's no reason to not use whitelist first for almost everything… especially inbound. Even if you do want to make your internal comms life easier, you can use security-group-based rules that do any/any b

Aurora is still ultimately a standard cluster of MySQL (or other) instances on the front end — it's just the storage engine that's significantly different. From the docs, the largest instance size defaults to the recommend maximum

Not to mention the diameter of the solar system is nearly 10 light days across. A return pulse is going to take a really long time… and you don't know if and when it's going to hit something to expect the return.

The biggest gotcha for Semantic UI is that it requires FlexBox support which is extremely buggy (or non-existent) in IE 10 and 11. Edge is OK (mostly), but there are a lot of users still on IE 10/11.

It's not the simplistic bare-metal services that are growing in AWS. It's all their serverless products where the end-user could care less what the underlying tech is running on so long as the API/performance is what they exp

In a nutshell, AirPlay 2 decouples the media and the control streams. This makes play/pause etc instant (rather than waiting for the 3 second buffer to run out) and makes it much easier to do multi-speaker audio as they're all lis

Jeremy Daly has created the mysql-serverless[1] library that helps elliviate a lot of the issues with using MySQL within Lambda. MySQL tends to have very low connection times, which helps a lot in this area also. [1] https://gith

Modern lambdas can be paused for 4+ hours before experiencing cold starts (depending on a lot of variables). AWS is making continual improvements in this area.

tl;dr; Cold starts/performance. The way Lambda manages to achieve the performance it does is because it bootstraps the application and then runs each new request through the loaded application. This means Lambda needs some way to commu

One of the reasons Amazon has been able to achieve so much diversity around what you can do with their cloud systems is because they allow the individual teams to build and manage their own services. I'd argue that if they were build
