To me it sounds just like he framed what happened in the IT industry in most corporations from 2001 onwards in a 'IBM is evil' manner. Dotcom happened, bombed, local skills got paid less while jobs got shipped offshore or automated away.

I couldn't agree with you more. I believe the ability to spot the error and bias in the one while being blind to that of the other is a good indicator of a person's own bias.

I think what people miss is the fact that many scientists considered a 16 year lull in warming as very unlikely. Not impossible, but unlikely. It doesn't mean they have it all wrong or that it's just a hoax, and says nothing about the lon

The fact that several people commenting here spotted that error, and still managed to frame the useful part of the argument properly, has given me renewed appreciation for the HN community.

I think it's generally full of gotchas similar to that of SQL databases like MySQL and Oracle. In fact, most of the issues mentioned in this article, like delayed replication, indexed queries and using 'explain' are issues I've had to deal

I believe North Korea agrees with you, if one of their citizens set off UK nuclear missiles to attack UK targets, they would prefer to be tried in a North Korean court. You should respect their sovereignty ;-) Just to be clear, I don't bel

For sweetness, try rotating between non-fructuse sweeteners. like saccharin, aspartame, stevia, etc. I also find that Coke Zero is a nice way to cut down on sugar but still keep the Coke taste, and it's a lot less acidic than Diet Coke. Ho

This sort of thing happens all the time in business. There are a variety of common solutions, for example borrowing and repaying once prices are back to normal again, throttling demand in other ways, raising prices to the customer, cutting
