Maintenance jobs pay poorly I would call this an inaccurate generalization. It all comes down to supply and demand. What and who needs maintaining? How many people out there are capable of maintaining it? Price is set from these variables

You're getting closer to a business case, but if you're confident in your assessment, you need to put it plainly, in terms that management can digest quickly. The bottom-line is money, and in engineering, time = money. So here

This came as a shock to me today as I went to GrooveShark to get some coding done (love listening to film scores while I'm in the zone). I always assumed the site was legit (musicians were getting paid a la other streaming sites) becau

Be-friend someone who works for the city? I'm dead serious. I mean, you could solve this challenging technical problem only to have the schedule changed from underneath you without any notice.

I'm a fan of CMake for C++ as well, but have also worked on projects that included C++, C++/CLI, and C# and unfortunately CMake support for .NET projects is close to non-existent (there is some, but it's woefully inadequate).

I can't imagine this being a positive attribute (and yes, I've been in the hiring position before). It paints the applicant in quite a negative light.

I semi-recently posted a Show HN that attracted very little attention, received no upvotes or comments, and yet I don't think the system is broken. The volume of Show HN's is just so high now, thus "standing out" is more
