For the record, steel production has not left the US (although many of the jobs have due to automation). The US is #4 in the world for steel production[1], although China produces about 17x more. [1] https://en.wikipedia.org

Total data loss isn't the worst case scenario, in my opinion. Quietly interacting with your site, contacting your customers to abuse their trust in you, etc.

Ok, I have been to Elizabeth City before. A former employer held a job fair at ECSU once and I volunteered to man our booth. So much of Northeast NC is in a beautiful setting, but economically crippled. We lived in Murfreesboro until abo

Roanoke Rapids? I used to live near Ahoskie, but the downtown there could not have been described as "vibrant" at any time since about 1980.

Maybe I'm being nitpicky, but this line really bothers me: Under Sec. Clinton, State Department officials approved almost every single proposed CIA drone assassination. They only objected to one or two attacks. One or two? Which one i

A special case where UUID keys are extremely helpful is when you have to convert your data from one system to another - customer "105" can be different in different databases, but customer "7C823BE3-CB5B-4E34-BE8D-4B5A71945D3

What does it take to get listed in the Visual Studio extensions dialog? If there is a review process, it should probably include a requirement that "transmitting your code across the wire" requires explicit consent each time, or

You are correct to point out that moving large scale physical manufacturing is a massive undertaking. Building a factory in a new location is the least of your worries; available skilled workers, supply chains, transportation networks, var

Good advice. If this sort of thing is appealing to you, then read Code Complete by Steve McConnell. It's basically an entire book full of very solid advice of this sort.

Like him or not, I think it's fair to say that Trump's messages have been very carefully crafted indeed. It's not just a matter of "any press is good press". He's not as dumb as he seems.

I like how "most people want it" is somehow a secondary reason to a vague theory of Orwellian mind control. People want it. Therefore it is policy. Period. As for why they want it, and the politicians who manipulate their fears
