Oh, you mean KYC and AML? Turns out "math" doesn't make legislators and regulators go "oh, it's math? Ok, then I have no requirements". I've said it many times before: Cryptocurrency and smart contracts ju

Anyone selling OpenBSD should try to avoid the topic of support and especially mailing lists. Unless you deliver a working patch for the bug you found they're more likely to tell you to piss off. A question? Lol, no we don't answe

Feedback for the author: If you've never heard of "The wirecutter" then it's really hard to understand what you're saying. Are you "The wirecutter"? It's not part of your domain name, if so. "C

Good thing they won't find it in the next 100 years, then. It'll all be gone. Literally every single atom in about 7500 years.

Sure, but it sounded like you meant while not instadeath, it'll be eventua-death. I.e. the Simpsons view of plutonium, which is likely what's in most people's minds. Anyone encountering the probe will pretty much by definitio

I know. And the USD is not just backed by the military. War is just diplomacy failed. It's just the most obvious backing. It's enough to send fines, most of the time. Actually just the threat of fines. If foreign then diplomatic c

On the black stain on the CV: the best time to quit cryptocurrency companies is before you start. The second best time is today. It's just a year or so. Two years will look worse. Three years and you'll start looking like a frauds

It's not far fetched. Microcontroller programming should not be seen as magic. And microcontrollers will never get abundant capacity because smaller and more efficient means less battery , no matter the tech level. So it's not li

Maybe. Using actual numbers vetted by actual expenses in an actual company, if you can save 100 CPU cores by spending 3h a year keeping it optimized, then it is NOT worth it. It is cheaper to burn CPU, even if you could spend one day a year

Yeah, it doesn't have a simple answer that works for all cases. Say you need to do some data processing from format A to B. There's already a maintained codebase for converting from A to C, C to D, and a service that converts indi

I'm of course aware of all this. If you don't want to take the advise of running the numbers that's up to you. E.g. if end user latency is 10ms (and it's not voip or VR or something) then that's fast enough. Doesn&#

It depends. Run the lifetime cost of a CPU, and compare it to what you pay your engineers. It's shocking how much RAM and CPU you can get for the price of an hour of engineer time. And that's not even all! Next time someone reads
