Phantoms in the Brain by V.S. Ramachandran. Blew my mind (pun intended) and changed my perspective on pretty much everything forever.

That's strange. Apart from the fact that the dictionary website renders utf8 Kannada text, there's nothing else to it. Can't imagine how the browser managed to switch its language based on text found on a webpage!

https://alar.ink (Kannada-English dictionary) was built using https://github.com/knadh/dictmaker It addresses some of the things you’ve mentioned.

That the package is downloaded 7 million times a week exacerbates the impact significantly. The CI/CD trend of pulling everything from upstream over and over for builds (despite caching, as the absurd NPM download counts indicate) ensu

Life isn't complete until one's made their own static site generator! I had to make two directory websites earlier this year and that exercise turned into a static directory site generator - https://github.com/knad

The platform looks slick. Great job! - It would be nice to have a sample book or two featured on the homepage. - About print-on-demand, where is it printed and shipped from? Perhaps an FAQ page can answer some of these questions.

That is very surprising to hear. listmonk is a single exe with no dependencies (except for Postgres connectivity). Running the Docker setup is as simple as `docker-compose up app db`. If you don't want Docker, you can just download the

What is the difference between downloading and running a bash script vs. downloading and running a binary or a Docker image? Surely, when downloading a piece of software from a (quasi?) trusted source, no developer is going to read all the

This is correct. Our listmonk instance has ~7mn subscribers to whom we've to send updates (sometimes mandatory regulatory ones within stipulated periods) every month. The cost of hosting listmonk and Postal SMTP servers (that we scale

Unsub has been available from day one. Bounce handling (generic webhooks, POP3, SES+Sendgrid webhooks) is already merged into the repo and will be available in the upcoming release.

listmonk has nothing to do with Zerodha's business though. It's a personal project that I built prompted by usecases at work originally. I like AGPL because it increases the odds of improvements coming back to the upstream project

1. I think AGPL is a good license for web apps that can also dissuade Elastic/Mongo-like fiascos. Mastodon, Metabase, Grafana, Minio etc. are AGPL and are widely used. 2. We see ourselves as a group of hackers and not really as a corpo

I donate semi-regularly. Been using Thunderbird as my primary email client (almost) since its release. The installation has hundreds of thousands of mails across many folders, and yet, it is super fast and rock solid.

I wrote listmonk[1] after running into difficulties scaling existing open source list managers including Mailtrain to millions of subscribers. It is a single binary app that can run on a potato VM instance. [1] https://listmonk.a

It’s possible to achieve good deliverability with some effort. Proper SMTP config and a “clean” dedicated IP from a host with no history of spamming. I gave up on the Postfix/Dovecot setup when I switched hosts and figured I’d just rel
