It sounds like you're implying that you shouldn't have to pay to help those people.

This seems like an argument for a character based rather than word based network. It just so happens that English and Chinese, the two languages which have the most machine learning research, are relatively analytic, with a low morpheme per

If this were more compact and didn't rotate text I think it would work much better.

OP actually has some sound reasoning in reply to parent comment. I'm not sure how convinced I am without evidence. Also stopping gerrymandering is way more politically feasible than mandatory voting.

Yes. It's absurd. Dogmatic isn't a great word to describe it but how can you live in 2016 and not read it as lazy?

That's just not true, there are not tradeoffs that aren't solved multiple decades ago. Go implementors are lazy and dogmatic.

Where is this HDI data from? A bunch of countries look misplaced. There is no way Taiwan is low HDI for example.

Advances in mathematically verified software could help here - although mechanisms for verifying the manufacturing of chips all the way down the supply chain might be farther out.

That's basically my point. The level of tech diversity is set by some kind of equilibrium between the cost of writing new code and the value of doing so.

It's a catch 22 because diversity reduces the potential for class breaks but also increases the probability that any given system is insecure in the first place. (Less resources can be devoted to securing each unique system.)

Spot on, C++ has always been the best systems language for real world projects until Rust came along.

These piles of money don't seem to be amounting to much because rust is still an objectively far superior language. Google is not a language company and doesn't hire good language people so I don't see this changing. Disclaim

Yeah, programming doesn't get magically easier but it could well increase programmer productivity by 10-100x.
