Bear App ( http://www.bear-writer.com ) is pretty neat too - it has Markdown support and uses iCloud Sync, which is probably the best part of Apple's Notes app.

It's been a while now, but I really liked Eloquent Ruby. If you're looking for Rails-specific knowledge, the Hartl tutorial (I think it's just called Rails Tutorial) is fantastic. There's a print version, but the web one

As always, the neat thing about GitLab is how open they are with their process. I enjoyed this read, and followed the trail down to a corresponding ticket, where the staff is discussing their actual plans for moving to bare metal. Very cool
