Yeah 100% giving up on pure SQL to solve the problem, mainly from the perspective that doing full versioning etc. in SQL is really damn hard.

Really depends on the app. If you have a low throughput line-of-business kind of application you can probably get away with storing everything.

The problems with this approach are exacerbated in a team setting. The architecture might be trivial from your perspective but good luck getting a bunch of other folks on board with different mental models and levels of experience.

I'm not sure nix is aimed at the same kind of things here. ParticleOS seems to be a logical continuation of the effort that systemd has been putting into TPM2, boot security, signing, and immutability.

Is there any technical pathway for changing the underlying hash function? Similar to how git is kind of stuck on SHA1, what would it take to get this onto SHA512?

The problem is we have a strongly factional two party system where the most productive strategy is to reap hatred between the factions. This is mostly a consequence of our plurality voting system.

- Think about clear interfaces - Handle edge cases explicitly - Create clean separation of concerns - Build proper startup/shutdown sequences If you do all of these things to start with though, then what's the value proposition?

I can see the argument for letting a query finish if it is doing any kind of mutation. For a read-only query though, surely it would be a good addition in postgres to cancel the query? Cancelling things can be quite difficult though in prac
