Might not be a goal of the author. Maybe they just wanted to make a shell :)

I’m all for boring technologies but can we please at least use compiled languages with types

I think react hits a really good sweet spot in the trade off space. Sure it’s not the best thing that can exist, but it really does solve a lot of problems in a way that isn’t overly restrictive. My personal opinion is that a lot of the hat

DNG isn't really related to JPEG XL at all AFAIK. DNG is a standard-ish way to shove RAW images in a TIFF file. DNG doesn't have to be tiled, but if you do have tiled RAW images and want to compress them, then it seems like JPEG X

The timing of this with Elon's SQL comment on X is especially comedic

This makes no sense - it’s a hash map because it hashes things for you…

I’m also using it in production and it’s so much better than any of the existing alternatives

I’d be mostly worried about the hiring problems. It’s not in vogue right now and it might be increasingly difficult to locate engineers who are knowledgable or want to work in such a stack.

Yeah this is dumb. The DNG spec handles this fine

Okay but make is a shitty build system. What it does have going for it is you can nearly universally expect it to be already installed or easy to install. That makes it a good way to name commands shorter in a portable way, with some depend

I’m not really sure what you’re saying. Do you mean you achieve the gaurantees of CRDTs without using CRDTs? What technology are you implicitly referring to? Whenever I hear someone say “sync” data, I instantly get scared. Consensus is frau
