I used to think big files were a problem but I've come to like them more as the years go by. I don't have to wrap my head around some organization scheme which might be half baked - it's all right there.

This is just compiling and caching right?

Yeah I agree, but we don't have a designer so what am I to do? I think I'm good at the frontend engineering as in breaking down component structure, passing data around etc. but I can't make something look good enough to meet

I do it about 40% of the time - I'm just straight up not good at it, which is okay. I can get by, but it would be better for the company for somebody else to be doing it. Specialization can be good!

Write a script that works anywhere and execute it via your ci tooling as a thin wrapper

I don’t think it’s inherently a bad idea. Industrial adhesives can be incredibly strong and perform better than fasteners in many use cases. They are tricky though and there’s many ways things can go wrong.

No separation between backend and front end is hard. I’m not good at front end, and we don’t have a designer. I’m miles better on backend though and other team members are more talented than me for front end design.

The alternative and obvious explanation is that you are make Loki look worse so your product looks better in comparison.

Which world would you rather live in: * structured protocols that can be parsed by machines * unstructured protocols that are unreliably parsed by LLMs that require significant power and latency

Making stuff last for a long time is very difficult. It's cheaper to make things last for a short time and allow improvement

I just went to the readme of PRevent, and looked at it when writing my comment. It puts a comment explaining specifically which code triggered the problem. The attacker can easily see this happening and then test locally with PRevent to mak

Malicious code detection is a fools errand. The attacker would’ve known that was installed and obfuscated it to avoid detection. It’s trivial to do so because they know what the detection is. There is no way this would’ve prevented anything

This leaves a bad taste in my mouth, because motherduck is going to try and use this to squeeze more money out of duckdb. It’s a slippery slope from here on out.

This is one of those things where it's like if you have to program them to move, it's probably just easiest to program it to be somewhat faithful instead of making up some other values.

Security performance tradeoff is hard, but I always try to keep in mind what the downside to either is. A small performance hit can definitely matter, but for most use cases a security hit will matter a lot more
