Yeah I confirmed mine was retrieved, fortunately I use a distinct password for services like LinkedIn so there will be no fall out from it for me. I just changed my password and moved on.

Yeah I am on the 17" MBP, the generation before the current one. I have 8GB of ram in it, and in the last year I have started to feel that it needs a little more. The virtuals I run are what is killing it. I am going to refresh with this up

Almost no committed code that is commented out I don't 100% agree with this one, at a company I worked at they had a policy of commenting out code, adding a date it was commented out and a reason why. After 90 days aging it would be remov

Right this is usually how it works, and if said consultancy saves the day then the existing management at the company assumes that that consultancy walks on water and keeps shelling out money for the perception that problems will not arise.

Right, anytime I take reduced compensation my cliff becomes very short. If it does not then it is not the deal for me. Any other arrangement leaves you in a position to hold the bag. Now there are a multitude of way that that vesting can be

Right, and if you are going to take a significant pay cut over market, make sure that equity vests every month. You are being compensated in equity in these arrangements. Make sure the equity is not a future promise for sacrifices today.

History is full of hackers that built a product and changed the world. It is less full of business people who taught themselves to hack and changed the world.

In most the big orgs I have been with, price was not the deciding factor, but rather a host of other considerations. That being said if two product where identical in feature's and ease of use, you can guarantee that a significant cheaper p

Right, there is no shortage for those willing to pay a premium. Money is not the total equation but there are plenty of great developers that given the right price will jump ship. If one where to put an ad out for a senior developer with a

Quite a few organizations hire on a contract basis for a period of time to ensure that it is going to work out for both parties. It's fairly standard practice to avoid committing to the unknown on both sides.

I would argue that with developers, the cost of a false negative is higher. It is just that most companies don't understand the loss walking out the door. Interviews are fraught with 1001 ways to get a negative from a top 10 developer. The

My problem with your position is that what you are proposing does not require a 4 year degree. I think a 6 month to one year vocational program would be of more advantage to a student than a 4 year degree in what amounts to a vocational edu

Right I agree, defaulting to you don't know what you are doing and when you do, you will know how to shut this off is a good thing. A key part of Apple's success has to do with something Microsoft knew and did well back in the day, and that
