They're also four to five years apart, and IP67 was more or less top-of-the-line during the time when most smartphones still had replaceable batteries. Also, this entire argument feels like it's getting way too much significance.

Yes. If you have a used phone with a dead and non-replaceable battery, you're gonna invest at least half of the amount of money to make it operational again compared to buying the cheapest new smartphone available (assuming your averag

AFAIK, the key difference is that Apple did it depending on the age of the battery, and not the amount of charge left in the battery as is done in the cases you describe. That, and also that they were denying it, yes. EDIT: And since the ba

I'm not sure, definitely not if you use XOR-OTP, not so sure about additive-OTP, see my reply here[0] for reasons. Would like to know, if my assessment on additive OTP is correct, if anyone knows? EDIT: I mean, of course you still shou

Thanks, yes, this shows how it is flawed for the XOR-variant of the OTP. In 09:05 ([0]) you can see why, namely that K and K cancel each other out. I don't think this would be the case with an additive cipher. EDIT: Continuing the thou

I'm confused, this and a blog post linked somewhere else in this topic, describes the OTP has XORing data with key. I've always assumed it was just adding the key-value to the data-value, as is described in the Wikipedia article[0

Assume you have the OTP: 4242. You encrypt the data ABCD -> EDGF. You encrypt the data DEFG -> HGJI Someone intercepts the data, and has: EDGF and HGJI And now? Or maybe like this: Since OTP and data are interchangeable, due to matchi

The output is always random, regardless how often the key has been used. The thing is, if you know the same key has been used a second time, then yes, having both outputs (can? will? must? could?) helps to acquire the key. But how do you

I've always wondered if the assumption, they're never using the same one twice, would suffice to practically always use the same one then (assuming data-length never changes).

Yeah, but in-/decrement and silent dropping would've been a non-issue with type=text. All I'm saying, they could've used text all this time, and never had all these problems to begin with, with the slight exception of a

I'm no web-dev, but shouldn't these things be sanitized server-side? In which case, except for the mobile keypad issue, all these problems would solve themselves? And shouldn't they be doing this anyway?

And that then depends on the price per area of storage that you pay. I've always wondered who buys old Pentium 3s for thousands of dollars on eBay, but yeah... it can make sense, especially if that computer runs a factory machine or so

If you look at the core count, you'll see a stark difference between the supercomputers in the West and China. For the same perfomance, a Western supercomputer probably fills a room, and a Chinese one the whole datacenter. Add to that,
