Did we see a different version of the episode? In Nosedive your score is decided by people, not by AI. There's no hint of AI in the whole episode.

Not really. Sure, it's dystopian and futuristic, but that's not enough to make it cyberpunk. Usually cyberpunk is seen from the point of view of the lowest part of society (the "low life" in the "high tech - low li

FYI "pizza" has nothing to do with the city of Pisa. Actually it likely comes from the latin verb "pansere", meaning "to press".

To be fair, in this case the original comment is linked to, so one just needs to click the link to have a text version of the screenshot.

Sometimes I do read the comments without reading the op, but then I won't comment, unless it's something unrelated (like this very comment, for example, even thought in this case I did read the OP). But yes, there's plenty of

Doing something nice for other developers, I guess. Unless you mean "what guarantees do I have that if I integrate this in my workflow it won't be gone tomorrow?". In which case, I agree.

I didn't downvote, but I think people disliked your use of the word "religious", as it's sort of a discussion-stopper. To answer your point, the difference is that most people confuse the terms, which have a very differe

That's where "stable" distributions (like, e.g., Debian stable) come into play. You only get updates for security-related stuff (and, IIRC, stuff-breaking bugs), which seldom break things.

You sent me searching for what a Toshiba ML-2274. I was expecting it was some kind of deep packet inspecting firewall. Still not disappointed by what I found, and since that joke is not common around where I live, I plan to use it next year

There was a piece of news lately about a gaming company tracking users and exfiltrating data about their web use to catch pirates. I'm afraid I don't have a link handy.

I love it when articles about music spill on HN. Especially this one is a fantastic mix of music, historical investigation, engineering and art.

I didn't want to imply anything, but I too thought that was the point. Also, seeing the overall good treatment the US reserve for Israel I'm always surprised when someone implies that Israel wants to damage the US.
