OP never said "contributions to llama.cpp", the comment just said just "contributions" which I read as "own developments".

I would if I didn't have to first create an account. Cross-logging in with an existing account from a different website isn't an option for me either, unfortunately.

By far the biggest speed complaint I have about Firefox is not in everyday use, but whenever I restore a previously saved session - it basically stops reacting for a few minutes(!) before eventually I can use it again. I suppose it's d

Note that they're not claiming that their LLM is 1-bit - they're saying that there is a 1-bit era of LLMs. What they do say is that their approach is a variant of a 1-bit LLM variant, namely a ternary LLM (they explicitly state

Okay, thanks, I did read that but it slipped my mind. Still, though, that makes it a little less bad but doesn't invalidate my argument completely, does it?

True. My point was, however, not to oversimplify but to highlight how a rather trivial concept is given a smart sounding name here, to make it appear sophisticated.

Couldn't this functionality be automized somehow? Every time there's a link on HN to a paywalled article, I have to the same dance: 1. Click on the link 2. Find out it's behind a paywall 3. Go back in the browser 4. Click on

I don't get the part about the expiration date. Say, you got your free money from the town with an expiration date Dec 31. Awesome, you better spend it quickly, because it's already Dec 30 (say). But then, who is going to accept y

Then why do we need certification at all? Everyone just brand your tool as non-medical, not matter whether it is intended for medical use or not, and Bob's your uncle!

Well, I think it's worse than you may think: the startup is not even allowed to market their products as medical tools unless they're certified. ChatGPT is used today by doctors without being certificied. How is that fair?

Some of my former co-workers founded a start-up a few years ago (before the ChatGPT age) focussing on AI tools for the medical sector. By far their biggest challenge wasn't the tech but the hoops they had to jump through to get even th

Of course, your typical forest is bigger than that even in Germany. This is the minimum size a piece of land with trees on it has to have to be considered a forest by law.

Not if it has trees on it (I mean not just a couple, the way forests usually look).

I don't think there are any wooded lots in Germany, at least not in the way you're thinking. If your lot is at least a quarter acre big and some 30 feet wide, it counts as a forest.

No, you're allowed to fence your property if you're talking about a lot with a house on it. But if it's a piece of forest you can't. Even if you privately own it, access must be guaranteed for the public. Oh, and you

On the other hand, in the US you can buy a piece of forest, build your own private cabin in it if you want and put a fence around your property to keep everyone else out. In the country I currently live in (Germany), you cannot.

Really? I find that the one really good design decision that survived in GNU emacs over all these years is that it does not have dialog windows. But it seems that that's pretty much what Lem does, at least when you find a file?!
