1. How long have you been bootstrapping your startup? 5 months 2. Roughly how much of personal money have you invested in your startup? Exactly $250 3. Are you profitable, if not then at what point do you make the decision of pulling the pl

If you live in a place like the SF Bay area (or anywhere with a state income tax), take as little as possible for your salary. 60k max, and if possible even less than that because whatever you take as salary you'll be losing 30%-40% of it i

This is an excellent post. I'd like to add "the mentor" - someone who's had real world experience making successful businesses. I've found this role to be pivotal in making my latest startup successful. This person can be part of the foundi

Pretty terrible article considering that they only gave one example, and not even a good one at that. We buy bottled water because we want to ensure our health and safety. I personally use the water filter and drink tap water.

Very interesting article on the two types. Actually it's probably the only article I've ever seen that really outlines the differences. Up until now I've been operating under the assumption that YC and TS were pretty much the same.

My best advice for you is to look at good designs and figure out why they are so good. Then try to replicate them in your own way. Whenever I start on a design I gather several reference layouts so my mind can think about how to best put th

This is an excellent guide, especially since me and my co-founder are moving to SF soon. Any price range info by chance?

I truly believe that there should be no distinction between the two. A startup is a business.

Thanks for the article. A lot of okay points but mostly common-sense. I'm actually one of the few who is running two startups at once right now.

Saw this blatant copy earlier today when the news first broke. You'd think that if they really wanted to copy something they'd do a little bit better of hiding it, but the copy is just bad. Shame on Curebit.

Interesting. No one responded that does their startup fulltime without any other source of income or savings. I didn't even think about the fact that you could just be working on your startup living off your savings.

I typed in a word and I got a bunch of domains that were already registered and not enough domains available. So obviously, get more domains available. It's a great service though, if you can make it more useful.

I think get a .com - I'm not a big fan of your .in domain. Like the people have said, I don't like the idea of letting you post tweets for me or update my profile. Until you're a well-known Twitter app, this just makes it seem like you want

Not sure how big the market is. But seems like a solid business idea and you could have a cashcow on your hands. Good luck.

About 2-3 months before launch, hard to say how many hours I've spent. Maybe 500 hours. Many more hours afterwards of course.
