Amen, I think if memory serves correctly HTML was SGML inspired and once XML became popular there was a XHTML standardization push for a brief time. I think you could argue that the ubiquity of HTML led to people see value in something like

It is a weird hang up because JavaScript/scripting was already ubiquitous in the 90s! I programmed "Dynamic HTML" pages as a summer job in '98 or so when I was in high school.

Yes, but JavaScript has been a thing since the 90's and was widely used by web sites even back in the the days of GeoCities. So it's really a bit weird to complain about something that has been part of the web since almost its beg

The elephant in the room is that math has a giant UX problem. The notation is inconsistent and not nearly as logical as it could be.

The more stuff like this I see (Rails view components and HTML over the wire) the more I realize how, for lack of a better word, "advanced" ASP.Net MVC was over 10 years ago...

The only people in need of a safe space are people who say "I crush people" and then are unable to deal with the blowback.

Uhm, isn't pushing back against such "adversarial behaviour" one of the adult ways to deal with such behaviours? What are you trying to say?

See the point is that you can be reasonably accomplished thanks to your talents, interests and intelligence, but let's take the very same you and remove some of the procrastination. It is reasonable to expect that it would be an even m

Without ADHD you would probably have an even more accomplished career. I remember a study that showed that the higher the IQ the older you are on average when diagnosed with ADHD, also high IQ masks some of the executive dysfunction. Anywa

I agree with you here, but some observations: Managers are imbued with more formal power than their reports and as such should be held to a higher standard. Simply passing on pressure and not standing up for your team will never inspire loy

From anecdotal evidence, a) is more likely than b). The deadlines are arbitrary because most companies are slow bureaucratic oil tankers that are difficult to steer and will mow down everything in their path once a course is set. Management

I think academically the first year of an US undergraduate degree is probably more on the level of the last year of a European "high school" (lycee, gymnasium etc).

I think you are missing the mark here with this comparison, Copilot and its network weights are already the derived work, not just the output it produces.

Sorry Nat, but I don't think it really answers anything. I would argue that using GPL code during training falls under Copilot being a derivative work of said code. I mean if you look at how a language model works, than it's prett

It's not just about copying verbatim. They clearly use GPL code during training to create a derivative work. Then you have the issue of attribution with more permissive licenses.

It's not just about regurgitating training data during a beam search, it's also about being a derivative work, which it clearly is in my opinion.
