My father was instructed in no uncertain terms that if he wanted to get anywhere in the legal profession in the 1960s, he'd have to drop his Welsh accent. This was in Wales.

This is hyperbole. The monarchy has many problems but it seems Charles' principal failing is that he isn't as "hip" as his sons, despite being way ahead of his time on awareness of environmental issues. Every other argum

I think there's an error in the final block of Rust code. let mut led = pins.d13.into_input(); Should be let mut led = pins.d13.into_output(); I think.

It helps to read TFA on occasions. Hinton founded the AI company acquired by Google with 2 of his students. One of them is now in charge at OpenAI. Hinton has had a significant part to play in the current state of the art.

The "check on the legislature" is only a reality in extremis . The discussion is usually about politics, but ultimately, if a legislature/executive were going off the rails and intervention by the armed forces was required,

I didn't read any insult. I don't agree with the author but all I perceived was encouragement against using AI, not personal denigration for doing so.

In a similar vein, nobody would notice the old woman sitting at the railway station, knitting away, waiting for a train. In fact, what she was doing was including coded details into her knitting of train & troop movements, to be passed

Note that Conway's law states that systems will be structured according to how humans communicate. Often, for dev teams, that aligns with how the APIs interact, but for, eg, testing teams, doc teams, devops, etc, that communication m

I think that's true when the source is first written. But # of devs only ever goes up during maintenance lifecycle, while loc may not change much.

I heard error count is proportional to LoC + # of developers involved in writing it. So as well as the accidental complexity from LoC, the more people touch a code base, the greater the chance of broken communication and misunderstandings.
