The trick is having enough skill to be able to evaluate the professional you're going to hire. I've been bitten by this before both in my personal and professional life. If you don't know enough about the field even someone with only a marg

I find most of the time I'm using sudo I don't want to type it before every command and so I use sudo -i which pretty much negates the benefit of logging anything other than to tell that I was sudo at some point.

You don't have to do that. It's just the test framework they are using alongside HTTPretty in their examples. You can just as easily use the traditional unittest.TestCase methods: self.assertEqual(HTTPretty.last_request.querystring, "wh

All good points, but there's a big difference in trusting my distro's package manager to install packages from their secure repos, verified by certificates I installed with their OS in the first place, and running a shell script from a blog

In my experience many software developers are pretty ignorant about hardware issues since they rarely have to deal with hardware beyond their desktops or laptops. If you live in the IT world for a while and work with enterprise-grade equipm

Yes the packaging system has signatures but unfortunately Python's SSL implementation doesn't verify certificates, nor do its packaging tools. The signatures come from the same server as the packages, so if someone MITMs the server you can

I'm also a developer of a workflow processing system, though not open-source, and fairly specific to our company. A few more things that are desirable if you have a lot of data or need to do processing that takes a lot of time is the abilit

Also interesting to see that (at the time of this writing) the average is only $5.50 which is a lot lower than the averages I've seen for previous bundles.

It makes you realize how bad the synthesized instruments they used for it were... also not arranged for an orchestra. You can't just simply take the original note for note and play it on different instruments.

It's also simply not true. I have an iPhone and listen to music on it all the time. I haven't purchased any music from iTunes, ever. I refuse to buy music with DRM so I don't. I'd rather subscribe to a service like Rdio instead or get music

I'm not sure what you mean by file formats becoming obsolete all the time. This may be true for some proprietary formats that are no longer readable by a modern application, but for any reasonably widespread format there should not be much

Here in Vancouver there is definitely a lot of programming types at the rock climbing gym and at the crags. Other professionals that seem to be attracted to it are Engineers (of all types), Geologists, and Environmental Sciences people.
