Hi all, I've been thinking a lot about why I feel disheartened at the state of the internet and of possible ways to approach fixing it. I believe the root cause is the lack of a privacy-preserving 'Proof of Humanity.' My appr

I suppose you just have to trust that it's incentivized to find you the best route and not only offer you 3 options which it says are the best, but are actually paid promotions.

I would argue that just being in the office or not using AI doesn't guarantee any better learning of younger generations. Without proper guidance a junior would still struggle regardless of their location or AI pilot. The challenge now

Fully agree. I would also say it's easy enough to use Django for (almost) everything for a self contained SaaS startup. Marketing can be done via Wagtail. Support is managed by a reusable app that is a simple static element on every pa

Any info on context length or comparable performance? Press release is unfortunately lacking on technical details. Also I'm curious if there was any reason to make such a PR without actually releasing the model (due Summer)? What'

Amateur question, how are people using this for coding? Direct chat and copy pasting code? Seems clunky. Or manually switching in cursor? Although is extra cost and not required for a lot of tasks where Cursor tab is faster and good enough.

I have no connection but seeing as these conversations often discuss alternatives I'd like to mention https://screenrun.app/ . It's web based, offers plenty of features and can be had for a one-time of $40. I'

"Responsible capitalism" is not a term you often hear but it's something I think we could strive for. Not-for-large-profit is a set of guiding principals that tries to sit in the middle of the non-profit and profit-at-all-cos

Appreciate the concerns but they're non issues. Stock doesn't matter for my case. The browser has storage options to handle close and reopens. Prices in each currency are all in ints (i.e. cents) to avoid float issues. There are p

Of course you can combine the two but why use three tools (SSR + HTMX + JS) when I can just use two (SSR + JS)? My point is that if you are going to use a JS framework then it will do the same as HTMX and I don't have to remember where

I tried HTMX but found it too restricting. It's great if you just want to load a portion of the page. Maybe if you have an up-vote, just send the request and replace the icon with a gold icon. But I want things like an on-site calculat

Currently researching this myself? Have you explored the satellite images from ESA/NASA? They are painful to discover but they're available to download for free and fairly (3-6 months) up to date.

I asked the question as a top level comment but also duplicating here. Isn't Apache Baremaps a "free map tiling provider"? Or do I misunderstand what a tiling provider is? https://baremaps.apache.org/

And this is why user data should be stored encrypted. Not just at rest but zero access encryption or - where possible - client side, end-to-end encryption. I'll make a short shameless plug: If you would like to use generative AI (OpenA

Yes multi-provider is fairly entrenched at the moment. With this MVP I wanted to see if there was demand for something where privacy and encryption were enough of a USP to attract some early adopters. Maybe to also cross that hurdle I need

Thanks - I appreciate the honest words and no offense taken. Yes I try to make it as obvious as possible that this is not end-to-end encrypted. Using provider APIs over their products (e.g. ChatGPT) does already offer some privacy benefits

People are individual, some really don't mind offering their privacy for lower costs (their data is mined and doesn't belong to them) or additional features. That doesn't mean it should be the norm though. If enough people ac
