Great quote. It sums it up really well, especially the distinction it draws between extrinsic and intrinsic aspirations. Going to follow up on Deci. Thanks.

Nice post. It serves as a good reminder that you can get more than one chance in life. It's not success or bust, the end. You get to pick up the pieces, reflect and learn, and continue successfully, however one defines success for oneself.

I concur. It is a difficult task, and sometimes you just get very lucky as well. Either way you find Mr/Mrs Right, and when you recognize and appreciate the fact, you are well on your way.

I like the original post by @Dave and the honesty that comes through. I also like this reply. Life can feel so frenetic and short on time sometimes, and yet very, very long - too long even - at other times. Time is really a very elastic per

I'd tend to agree with you in that we could see it as 'every little helps'. Positive publicity never hurt, especially in view of the desktop market which remains stubbornly proprietary. I wonder when Linux will go mainstream there.

Whoa, that is some statistic! Eventually the best entrepreneurs are going to vote with their feet and that cannot be good for Russia. High time for Putin to fix the broken legal/police system.

@ChrisNorstrom: I agree with you, as an hour a day of meditation for a year (which is a lot and highly commendable) didn't seem to work for KenjiCrosland. I too am a novice in pursuit of happiness, with just some basic lessons taken from te

An awesome interview. In his views on "selfishness", trust and gpl2 as ingredients in the success of Linux, Linus reveals a masterful understanding of human nature. He deserves every dollar of the Millennium technology prize, and more.

Taleb's books made a huge difference for me too. He basically removed a number of layers off the prism I used to see life through. Thoroughly practical too.

I once had red ants, not sure if they were carpenter ants in residence in my laptop. It was too late by then as significant parts of my screen blanked out soon after. But I was humane, I let the ants out peacefully. :)

I won't get into the nitty gritty of how much faster it is, or how that kind of speed improvement should be calibrated. All I can say is it loads a heck-of-a-lot faster than it did previously - and also add a big thank you to the folks at L
