Addthis have an ajaxy JS snippet you can use. Might help a bit. Similarly, check for similar versions of any other widgets you have. Other than that maybe cut down the number of posts on the home page. You could always self-host the blog on

Asking for reviews on deleting an app is also maybe not the best way of getting balanced feedback. Though I hear rumours that recent updates have stopped this.

I managed to somewhat alleviate this for a recent app by having a feedback form in-app, allowing them to vent without going through the hassle of shutting down, launching iTunes or whatever and submitting a review. Some of it is still quite

A return to the "good" old days of typing in code from a magazine! You could buy, say, next months Wired with 30 pages of code that will enable free tethering if you type it into the correct app. As labourious as it would be on a screen key

Remember reading about limnic lakes a few years back. Crazy stuff. I also recall from even earlier a story about a beach bursting into flames, the scientific rationale given for why this occurred begged the question why didn't happen all th

I've built a couple of sites using Laterooms and they are very approachable. Each time I've spoken on the phone first & gone through things. One site was barely a holding page at this stage. You might have more luck this way. Their API

Ha. I actually tick the 'while compiling' box today as I'm building an iPhone app. Usually it'd be PHP or perl.

I can let any spelling mistake or grammatical murder slide except this one. I won't comment on it as that's a bit petulant, but I will seethe inside and often, almost without thinking, I'll disregard whatever else they wrote. Silly I know!

Wasn't this originally going to be the only way to release apps for iPhones? Later they caved in & allowed native. I didn't get an iPhone until a couple of years after all this though so my history may be off somewhat. Point being, if t

Like I said, I haven't experienced any problems. I guess when I do then maybe I'll curse the day I foolishly told the world I was happy with mysql :)

Oh of course and this wass from a purely personal POV. Without trying to sound too flippant, my data can go to hell without me losing too much sleep - even if it never has in 10 or so years using MySQL. I keep decent backups and I know what

Only the auto-updating timestamp thing has really got in my way in the past. Much as I liked Postgres when I used it, I have such easy access to MySQL and I so rarely encounter any problems that I kinda ignore the toy jibes. Maybe I'm not p

Here in the UK it's fairly common for the more enlightened* employers to make allowances for daytime England games. It's more effective than penicillin in reducing mystery illnesses. I'd like to thank modern technology for allowing me to re

A good friend of mine has been working as a graphic designer in Canada for 2 years now. He's a UK citizen but has all his reference, a job obviously and several weathly family members dotted around the country. He just managed to get a year

The CI videos are great. I got a better (basic, admittedly) grip on MVC in 20 minutes than I did in a year of essays, forum posts and lectures.

I wish I'd known it was so easy! Seriously though, there's been nothing around here that pays anything above a joke wage (senior web developer for £15k yeah?). Much as I'd love to get out, I'm stuck for the time being.

I thought it was just me, not having long woken up. I've read it a couple of times now so I'm either thick (fair chance) or it's a little confusing.

Subscriptions made buying papers more convenient and often cheaper (though not always, weirdly!). No more trips to newsagent in the rain to find they have sold out etc etc. The net has more or less trounced them in the convenience stakes. N
