very well done. Its seems you have created something that has a lot of potential. Being able to use obj c libraries out of the box and yet use smalltalk syntax is a huge win for me. I only hope the best for your project :)

ah nice , similar to what I expected. Its also very nice to see a new way of doing things. I will have to look more deeply into your implementation. I really hope you keep up with this and not abandon it. I would love to have an objective C

yes those things Python can do too. Replace methods, recreate objects etc. And probably you can find tons of workaround for things it cant do out of the box. Its not bad, not bad at all :) I really like Ruby :)

Its also an object in Python , Pharo and most likely Ruby too.

Well I can only speak about myself and say that I have spent at least twice as much for in game purchases than I have for buying games. In my case the culprit is Heroes of Newerth , a game I am completely addicted to. Its a MOBA game , also

yes definitely , I am not saying its not possible. Afterall Objective C itself supports manual memory management and GC . I was just wondering if Objective Smalltalk has something similar.

yes this looks definitely very close to live coding. If it can replace live objects on the fly even when already referenced by other live objects its live coding in its true form. You just gave me a big reason to add Ruby to my list of lang

Pharo and Squeak use the CogVM , its a VM that supports JIT compilation and as such is very fast. Its not as fast as Java because afterall Java is static typed. However there is a way to get even faster than JAVA code. Pharo comes with a li

I am using Pharo myself. http://www.pharo-project.org/home What it offers that none other language offers AFAIK apart from lisp is foremost live coding. In case you are not aware live coding simple means to code an applicat

what makes me skeptical is this "Generic raw pointers are not supported". The goal of C type languages are to offer performance not ease of use. So if that means loss of performance kinda defends the purpose. And if I want ease of

I tried to venture into web dev , being a desktop coder and frankly I came back. Foremost most of the so called "web technologies" are just desktop software which includes anything that goes inside your web browser. And to be even

completely agree with you. I am no big fan of blocks myself and I try to use them as sparse as possible. Keeping things simple is the way to go unless you have a good reason to do otherwise.

I agree with both of you, its more like an "OS inside and OS". However do note here that there is a project to make smalltalk into a true standalone OS called SqueakNOS. Of course I dont think of this as a special feature of Small

doable with smalltalk too Door open: 1 times: 3 and_close_after_ms: 30 also please note here, that python does not usually use keyword arguments. Unless for cases of optional arguments. So the python you wrote is completely doable of course

I am python coder. Smalltalk is much more readable than Python and so is Lisp. I dont know why you think dots and parentheses make things easier to read. Maybe its a matter of preferences , but even though I have grown up with this style ,

yeap definitely looks like it. I would not be surprised if Python has something similar too. For me OO is not the big reason to use smalltalk. For me the biggest reason is the whole live coding environment which is a big plus for workflow a

you dont need to do that as I replied above. Using my approach will automagically select the whole block and evaluate it without having to touch the mouse.

yes blocks are also evaluated with cmd+d. So its possible this way to evaluate/execute multiple smalltalk statements (message sends). so you can do a := [ message . message . message . ].a value. if you just ctrl+d it will execute all

Well the coding universe is divided into 3 galaxies. The C galaxy that dominates desktop , the Java galaxy and the Javascript galaxy. Of course there are other galaxies too, but I think those 3 dominate currently. For C libraries you can us
