Well, they could be two of the most epic studies in self-loathing. Hemingway (along with his "literary style of wearing false hair on the chest") damaged himself in his maniacal rush to prove himself the pinnacle of manliness. And Hoover,

IIRC Android was in development at a company Google bought even before the iPhone launched. Early prototypes looked like a Blackberry, not like an Android: they adjusted dramatically.

Double entry when setting a password, at least, is reasonable: a typo in a password field is going to be impossible for you to spot.

IIRC Gary Reback points out that, ultimately, legal writing is writing that people are paid to read. For better or worse, lawyers don't write to entertain and enlighten a general audience...

We (who care about freedom speech) need to get the politicians to listen to us... We need a more effective way to jerk their chain than by committing crimes: with 4Chan/LulSec, we risk losing the propaganda war, dramatically.

Given the roughly 1 million year species lifetime of typical mammals, and the fact that our descendant species are also likely to be quite intelligent, ten thousand years may only be a short time. :D

Yep, F# works well, and Miguel de Icaza et al. are playing with it. To get F# running with Mono, you'll want (at least on Linux) Mono 2.8+, and either MonoDevelop 2.4 (for which Thomas Petricek's language plugin works) or your own editor.

I'm sure some veterans from Sun or maybe Fujitsu could do it, but I think the CPU architectures have changed enough that it would be painful... There are probably lots of applications for which -- if you can't find hardware -- it is easy en

Recently, I've had reason to set up systems of various types from that era. Frankly, SunOS 4.1.3 is a dream compared to consumer stuff like Macs running System 7, or PCs with Windows 3.1. Sure, it isn't going to run modern software, but y
