I've been meaning to make a habit of counting this way, but it's quite rare that I count using my fingers at all.

"Normal" counting is unary (base 1, amount of fingers shown = number represented). Decimal would mean 10 states for each finger.

I was bored and curious to know how the Collatz conjecture works. Then, I implemented it in Lua and JS and compared their performance to C and Haskell. It's not meant to be a (good) benchmark. Here you go: https://gist.githu

I'd like to add that using [gzip_static][1] might also be a good idea since nginx doesn't have to gzip your files over and over again and you can gzip the files yourself with the highest compression possible (reducing file size).

Looks pretty easy if all you want is a simple blog. I'm wondering about the pricing, though. It seems free, but there is no word about it.

So, when I was 17, I bought some cases of beer. When I came out of the supermarket (with the beer visible in my cart), I walked by some (uniformed and probably armed) police officers. I greeted them and they wished me a nice weekend. Becaus

Exactly. "Real" flat design is more like the difference between animated toggle switches and plain checkmarks to show that something is enabled. (I guess checkmarks are more like a typographic convention than a "real world object".)

Wow, that is one large document. It is, btw, also available as PDF and ePub, if you have a look at the file listing of http://emotion.inrialpes.fr/people/synnaeve/phdthesis/
