Actually, that link says it only applies for work done on company time, not outside of it.

In the Netherlands, your employer really has nothing to say about what you do in your free time (with the exemption of directly competing with them, which you don't). If you don't use company resources, they have nothing to say.

Wine's mp3 decoder doesn't work in some cases, including some mp3 files by Spotify's partners[1]. Because the decoder didn't work for some mp3 files, they are actively blocking wine's mp3 decoder for all mp3 files. [1] I agree this

Very nice update, but local files don't work on linux/under wine: http://getsatisfaction.com/spotify/topics/spotify_under_wine... That's a bit of a letdown, especially since it's intentional.

Regardless of whether this particular research is any good, independent research into genetically modified food (and openness about the progress from the few market leaders) is desperately needed.

I did, but it didn't influence me because I knew they were worthless. Interestingly, we're accused of not wanting to pay our dues and and the same time expecting to be rewarded for merely (but more importantly, being judged on) quantity, no

I had expected something a little more profound than 50s science-fiction theories... There are so much more theories (i.e. non-biological life, etc.) that the view in this article seems awfully limited.

Sorry to be pimping my own stuff, but for the moment I think Grafico is more mature/offers better charts than gRaphael: http://grafico.kilianvalkhof.com/ Worth taking a look regardless :)

They already have solutions for this: Rhythmbox will be integrated into the volume widget and pidgin and tweetdeck/other twitter apps in the MeMenu. it's really far more elegant, I think.

While I really like what they're doing design-wise in ubuntu, the second screenshot makes me kind of sad. I really think they should strive for less administration applications, instead of adding more.

It's an uphill battle even if you want to do something productive instead of drinking and doing drugs. I started my own company when I was 16... and my higher education (which was supposedly training me for the job I was already doing ) di

Wow. Camelot sounds interesting, but their site is stupendously bad. http://www.python-camelot.com/ It's impossible to find out what camelot is and why i should use it.

I played the adventure game based on this book. Disturbing and intriguing and highly recommended (it runs smoothly on dosbox). On my To-read list.

Not having pie charts is by design. Grafico attempts to adhere to the chart design principles by Stephen Few, amongst others, who has this to say about pie charts: http://www.perceptualedge.com/articles/visual_business_intel...

I built Grafico, a free (MIT licenced) javascript and SVG charting library. it's fast in most browsers and should see a ridiculous speedup with ie9. Also it makes really pretty charts :) http://grafico.kilianvalkhof.com/

There are a couple of optimizations. You can cache the list, by instead of doing this: $(list).find("a:not(:Contains(" + filter + "))").parent().slideUp(); $(list).find("a:Contains(" + filter + ")").parent().slideDown(); you can do

The point that's worth mentioning is that, in the olden days, families had just one computer, they cost a small fortune. That isn't the case anymore. In my family of 5, there are currently 10 computers of various sizes in use. This is mostl
