This confused me as well, seeing how it's both at the same time. :) With regards to the diet itself though: works for me, so I'm happy with it.

It's probably of no help to you, but I use a dualscreen nVidia setup (twinview), and it just works.

It does this if you're running more than one instance of XFlux, they, uhm, seem to fight with each other ;). F.lux for Ubuntu prevents you from starting the app more than once :)

If it has appindicator support, it'll run. I'm not sure if any other distributions already support it though. If you could let me know if you can get it to work on openSUSE/KDE4, (email in my profile) that'd be great!

It's using an appindicator, which is (for now) a Ubuntu only thing. I really hope other distributions pick it up, because it's absolutely wonderful.

Thanks! To be fair, Michael Herf ('herf' here on HN) did most of the work, I just made a pretty GUI :) Man, I would love a F.lux for the iPad! Shame that's not possible unless Apple built it into the OS themselves.

I just released F.lux for Ubuntu (fades your screens at night)

On the other hand, a "hacker" has gone from someone that takes apart/breaks stuff to figure out how it works, to someone that makes stuff (albeit often quick'n'dirty). It's two directions, really.

Something reminded me of this manifesto and made me think about what a "hacker" really is. Things have changed in the past 25 years.

So someone finally found a way to market Binaural beats as something cool instead of something for nerdy hippies? Still, good for a laugh, I guess. 10 points for every teenager that can freak out their parents with this.

That depends on whether the products they built are "add-ons" or complimentary products. If they're building add-ons (i.e. apart from authenticated users, premium members can make groups or something like that) then yes, you're getting a co

a DVCS that can handle enterprise requirements, very interesting. But let's see how it compares to git/hg/bzr in a week :) The pluggable storage layers sounds like something I would use in my company.

Agreed. Spotify on WINE ran fine (on purpose even, so much kudos to Spotify) but a native version is very much appreciated. So far, it's running far more smoothly.

This is a very interesting market, and I think your prices could work (restaurants are known to have almost no money) Regarding this line: "14% of smartphone users look for restaurants on their phones." I don't know about you, but 14% seems

That or a Moka pot. Not only does it taste much better than in a machine, but handgrinding coffee is an awesome and satisfying micro-break!

As correct as Cory Doctorow is, his rhetoric is pretty bad. There are far better ways to convince someone instead of just repeating your original point in slightly different words.

As beautifulsoup isn't actively developed anymore, I hope html5lib will pick up where beautifulsoup left off in terms of "tag soup support".

That's actually a great idea! Now to find a tabs API (or build it into the site myself) By the way, I find Ultimate-guitar.com to be pretty good most of the time.

Here my take on it, from the blogpost I wrote about it: Finding lyrics has been a longstanding pet-peeve of mine. A lot of music players don’t allow to you easily copy the title and artist so you have to manually type them into Google. Onc

Just for fun for now, but the obvious revenue model would be buying songs or cd's. I want to expand it, first :)
