Depends on the culture. Some will even put their marital status on there - someone who is single has much more time to dedicate to a company compared to someone with a partner and kids at home.

I had the same experience - but with Shopify. I knew someone who was hired, given a letter of offer and attended his first few weeks of training. They walked up to him two weeks later and said we don't actually need your position right

I would figure that the 10,000 hours bit is more or less concerned with corporal movements as opposed to a mental game like Chess.
