There are already flags in the transport stream to aid PVRs that do this.

First of all that’s a lovely ad hominem based on absolutely zero knowledge of the projects I have worked on. I have led teams for Pay-TV deployments on satellite and OTA with budgets orders of magnitude larger than any live streaming packag

Now you're just splitting hairs about the definition of QoS, which again is defined in standards and fits in with the standardised definition of IPTV. I'm not going to quote it all because the chances are there is another standard with slig

If you knew more about IPTV than I did then you'd know that there are internationally standardised definitions for what "IPTV" is designated as compared to "Internet TV".

Eugh, more abuse of the term IPTV. IPTV is a standardised term requiring a managed QoS network (i.e not the Internet) so you can match the QoS provided by managed RF spectrum or dedicated cable frequencies.

They do let people pay to access their content - it's just done in a price discriminatory fashion. If they started offering content online they'd lose cable customers who pay more than casual web users.

It only looks refreshing because it lacks detail. Anyway this whole project is blatantly political. Directgov was a product of the last government so why not spend money making a new one and show how we've made all government services go o

ABC wouldn't be able to do this if they were not a public broadcaster. Advertisers would be furious.

Glyn Moody just makes up facts to fit his own agenda and then when you point them out to him he just says you're missing the overall point. He creates more FUD than the organisations he complains about.

It's not the same thing if the Apple TV can't provide features like comparable HDTV to large parts of the population. "Watching a web stream on your tv" and "Watching TV" aren't the same thing.

Apple TV (or Google TV, or any other TV platform) still doesn't have anywhere the reach of good old-fashioned cable. Well you could have said the same thing in the early days of Sky satellite television when they bought the EPL rights. Co
