Considering the entire premise of the show, even in 1967, was rooted in diversity, I'm happy to see that. Many of the black actors that starred in it grew up drinking from separate water fountains through segregation, etc, which was on

I think you've been seriously mislead about European police. Your description is of the heavily armed US police and not like any police force you'll hear about in Europe. The actual military police only police servicemen and have

I don't experience ads with my TV. I don't understand why this is an often repeated point. I've had three so far (due to moving countries), and never experienced this "tons and tons of ads" thing I see people compla

I do think you should open your mind a bit. Smart TVs are pretty terrific, I can just cast whatever I want across the room and bam, it's on the TV. Friends can come over and share the input. I can lay in bed with nothing but a remote a

Totally. I much prefer that we bring everyone in line with English, we should start doing PRs with other languages next. They must really be suffering without "they/them" pronouns :3

Little warning for anyone reading these comments: 100% of the criticism will be by devs with little or no experience with WordPress. It's almost an in-joke to hate on WordPress at this point.

Well I don't know if it was value subtracting, I learned a lot and there was a lot of interesting discussion about history and attempts at graphical programming environments.

I was aware of that when I posted, but honestly I'm tired of threads like this even hitting the front page of HN. What value does this article even add? It's a google query with a rant attached to it.

No, I do not think you have understood my argument. There is only one word for someone, who approaches a topic they know little about, and suggests that its rubbish and he knows better. That word is 'arrogant'. And you are correct

I disagree completely, and I'm starting to see now that you do not see the command line as programming, which is a fundamental flaw in how you're approaching your argument. The command line _IS_ a programming language. If you do n

In one statement you just revealed your age and experience level. The general trend in programming has been moving TOWARDS command line interfaces, not away from it. Mac OS didn't even have a built in command line until 2001. Microsoft

You have not read the article. >The author gave a fresh opinion about web browsers and shared it with everyone. appreciate that. The author gave a stale opinion that can be answered by typing his post title into google and hitting enter.

The server you submitted your comment to uses this 'OS nobody has used for decades'. The OS you wrote this from, also uses this implementation detail.

That is the best way to describe it, it's a bandwagon, they've been told everyone can code, and when they find they can't, they believe it must be the programming ecosystems fault, and not that they just aren't suited to

Please explain how the command-line is pointless. If investing time into learning the ins and outs of a complicated system does not make you clever then please explain to me what does make someone clever?

I try to keep my comments nice on HN but in this case I can't, I've met this kind of person many times now and I just can't hold back. The author is lazy, and is channeling his energy into complaining rather than learning. He

What he did was barely a criminal offense, breaking terms of service should not warrant jail time. If it does then we are ALL guilty of the same "crimes" as Swartz, including you.
