I'm describing the problem of already owning books you'd like (love!) to read, but don't make time for them. I'm also describing that most of us (I posit) already have a great collection of great books, which aren't

These reading lists are lovely and promise a Better You, but I'll propose the following challenge: * If you're at home, turn around and look at the bookshelf you've already accumulated. Did you really read all those books yo

Most people lack both breadth and depth. So don't worry about going too broad... you probably won't get there.

Pizzagate was fiction and was easily debunked. The fact that there are actually bad people who do actual bad things doesn't suddenly validate made-up stories.

I feel it's time for boomboxes to come back. Not purple medicine-pill bluetooth players, but big ol' boxes you can put on your shoulder and Fight the Power with 8" speakers. There was a whole movement around playing music

I don't buy it. You're saying you work nearly 10 hours a day, every week and every single day including Saturdays and Sundays, and (per the OP's question) that doesn't include time "not-working" while at wor

Almost every modern reference to "Corporations are now people!" is a callback to Citizens United. If the commenter I replied to is not aware of and was not referring to that, I apologize. But... he probably was. A simple search

One of the Googleplex buildings was dedicated to G+, and only G+ team was allowed entry, etc. Very different than the rest of Google at the time, which was a proudly-open culture.

This reminds me of Wave. Wave team's isolationism didn't cause them to fail, but no one was inclined to help them when they struggled. But these are symptoms. The Dark Tower was because of Vic, no? Maybe Bradley too, but most

My very-large project switched chat apps in one weekend (backed by a few weeks of prep by IT team). We had JIRA integration on day one, and one or two missing things within a week. It wasn't that big a deal. I think Slack aficionados

Actually, since Facebook is now considered "anti-GOP", I would not be surprised if Republican senators begin investigations into this.

Indeed. To be less facetious about it, there is some irony in this project being promoted by Google executives, who live in chateaus and mansions in Atherton, Los Altos Hills, Woodside, etc, with an acre of land to their name, when this in

That's not the only root cause. It is also trivially easy for Google and other BigCo's to hire from outside the Bay Area (college recruits, etc) and those people move here without a plan of where to live. They arrive and set up

There's a very large area of land directly south of Redwood City with an extremely low housing density, that could be torn down (with some controversy, no doubt) to make way for the new Google housing. You can easily see the underutili

I can't remember when/if I've ever seen a "toast" UI notification pop up, either on desktop or mobile. Somehow a UI that's very rare, should be in the standard? Esoteric AF.

I was a long-time winamp user and I've still never found that sweet spot in any new player, of being able to easily queue up albums and always be listening to exactly what I want, in the order I want.

To add insult to injury for Uber's rank and file equity-holding employees: the terms of Uber's stock offers (at least since 2016 if not earlier) say that you cannot sell your shares until one year after they officially vest . Th
