Indiana Jones and the Fate of Atlantis. I was addicted to point-and-click adventure games during the late 80's / early 90's. So much nostalgia.

BinaryLang (for Nim) has similar features[1]. I've written a very compact ELF parser with it[2]. Notice that the last struct has array elements that skip over content based on offsets specified in the header. [1] https://git

I was going to mention this as well. It's fairly similar: memory = joblib.memory.Memory(...) @memory.cache def slow_func(...): ...

Nim is also a strong player as a systems programming language. In terms of memory management, it's configurable, and by default you get ARC (no GC). I've written a hobby kernel (if you can call it that) in Nim[1] as well as Zig[2]

I was in the same position several years ago. It turned out that I needed a change, both the company and the role. I was hesitant to change jobs (I'm not a frequent job hopper), but I decided to do it. It turned out to be the best deci

What a beautiful young man <3 God bless him. Thank you. I know there are many parents out there going through the same circumstances. It's always heartwarming to see this kind of solidarity and support. It does help.

My son has a severe intellectual disability, he's non verbal, still wears diapers (age 12), and requires assistance in almost every aspect of his life. I still remember the day we received his diagnosis 9 years ago. The word "deva

My reference was the "System V Application Binary Interface" itself (chapter 4). It's not that difficult to grok. https://refspecs.linuxbase.org/elf/x86_64-abi-0.99.pdf

Low-level programming is one of my favourite subjects. I've written a simple ELF parser in Nim (with the help of an amazing binary parsing library) among other things: https://github.com/khaledh/elfdump

I'm always interested in monospace fonts for coding. But personally, I still haven't found any font that can beat JetBrains Mono.

Most of the time it's not about the code. Project management, issue tracking and prioritization, discussions, PR reviews, searching across the organization repos, etc.

I gave Rust a few chances, and always came out hating its complexity. I needed a systems programming language to develop a hobby OS[1], and Nim hit the sweet spot of being very ergonomic, optional GC, and great interop with C. I can drop do

Yep. Computers should wait for people, not the other way around (unless it's a long running batch job).

This reminds me of the first generation of computers in the 40s and early 50s following the ENIAC: EDSAC, EDVAC, BINAC, UNIVAC, SEAC, CSIRAC, etc. It took several years for the industry to drop this naming scheme.

The pattern of reading from data sources to a Pandas DataFrame first defeats the whole point of using Spark[1]. Maybe it's ok for small tables, but you'll probably run out of memory on large tables. [1] https://github.c
