I wonder if in 100-500 years they will mine landfills for materials or elements that have become scarce. Or maybe they will just keep them as natural gas reactors.

It's possible Boeing may be forced to subcontract part of the work to SpaceX, but looking like they are trying to find a buyer for the JV itself which would relieve Boeing but saddle the buyer with the troubled contract

My understanding was that this was a firm fixed price contract, not a cost contract. Boeing can't just cancel the contract once they are underwater, it would defeat the purpose of FFP which is to shift risk to the contractor. The g

It's a nice place, especially if you are outdoorsy, due to proximity to so much woodland and trail. I was very surprised with the architecture there. I've only stayed a couple nights (Trailhead for the Ragnar relay series)

Crazy. I wonder if they made a mistake, somehow killing her, but thought she was indigent or mentally ill, and that's why they did all this. Then again, it sounds like she was treated many times by this hospital. I cannot fathom the

Hard to say. Maybe I'm waiting to see a product come back in stock that's sold out. Or actually a good example is that I buy a handful of products from the Italian store delallo.com -- they have sales on weird categories and I d

I don't break them but I have 5 kids. Perhaps one of the downsides of trusting them with most of the kitchen chores at a young age. It's annoying they have chipped all my favorite coffee cups too.

Yes Duralex is pretty sweet. They are thicker than normal glasses too. At home went from breaking / chipping a glass a week to maybe 3-4 a year. I have seen Duralex bounce off the tile unscathed many times.

Nice font on the blog. Offputting initially but seems to get way more text per line, helpful on mobile.

I've been wondering this for a while -- why are people using DBaaS? Wouldn't you use an AMI of choice, self-host, or use one of the cloud native solutions? Seems like piping all your DB calls outside your VPC would have a lot of

Not enough. Still cheaper to defraud and kill people than to do it right. As a former Boeing engineer, though not involved in commercial manufacturing, I think there are certainly about 20 people who had enough to do in the decisionmaking

Not for me either in this case, but often times you will see it's running down some error branch repeatedly, and will sometimes give you a filename of what it's working on, which can be a big clue

Kind of like instead of buying $10k ADT home security system, just buy the sign for $20 and put it in the front yard.

I think the terms they came to were pretty generous to the buyer. Michael brings a lot of value to the deal as a seller, there isn't going to be a hidden gotcha, more likely hidden benefits of forward thinking you'd uncover over
