Am I reading this correctly that some volunteers are upset that their edits represent a smaller proportion of total edits because big companies are adding lots of data? But in absolute numbers the volunteer edits are still the same? If that

It reminds me of “sudo make me a sandwich” The idea that I tell a pharmacist an arbitrary number I found on the internet and the price of the medication suddenly drops 80%… Good on GoodRX for making this process less obfuscated, but wow the

They've just run up so much this year. The Russell 2000 has a negative p/e ratio.

For the most part, but especially early-stage negative p/e stocks. Surprisingly, the FAANG stocks aren't nearly as stretched as the rest of tech. AMZN is pretty close to in-line with its historical levels.

Everything isn't overvalued. Avoid the ARK stocks, smallcaps, and crypto. Everything else is sensibly valued.

While it's true that we had a pandemic, a roaring 20s is far from certain. And for the rest, I think it's even more premature to declare a Groundhog Century.

The bubble is extremely localized. Essentially: the ARK stocks, small caps, and crypto. Mid-caps and value stocks of any size are boringly and sensibly priced.

It's like that saying about debt. When a browser renders your 500 mau site badly it's your problem. When a browser renders your 50,000,000 mau site badly it's the browser's problem.

If bitcoin had been designed as a stablecoin, simply as a hedge against inflation with no hope of growth, with zero chance of getting rich, how many of today's holders would have still bought in? I'm guessing it's in the low

That sounds great. The world is big and people are devious. I don’t have time to vet every app I use. I’ll gladly pay Apple a percentage to do that for me.

It’s true. I’ve never read an article about something I had first-hand knowledge of that didn’t get at minimum one major part of the story completely wrong. And then I go ahead and wholly accept everything in every article about things I do

Every time someone has attempted to explain to me why bitcoin has value, they instead explain why blockchain technology is cool or why they don't like "the man" in a monetary sense. Those are both interesting discussions, but

I think many are defining privacy as “no one has even the possibility of accessing your data”. To me, surveillance is actively instrumenting and recording data from a user . Apple seems live in a middle zone where the do not engage in surve

Your bar for privacy is very high and accessible only to nerds. That's great, but not helpful for average users. Apple is not absolute, ironclad privacy. Don't rely on them for covert ops missions. But they ARE providing a very re

This reminds me of the moment Facebook redesigned profiles as "timelines" making it possible for anyone to zoom back 5 years and read status updates that you thought were lost to obscurity. Was the information always public? Yes.

Tesla is at the level Waymo was when they started running Waymo service in Chandler with safety drivers. In Tesla's case, you are the safety driver. That's a huge achievement, but Waymo is now running with no safety driver at all.

While it is definitely laughable to make people download a single-use browser to access a website, making me download your 100mb binary app from the app store to order pizza or read text posts is essentially the same ridiculous thing.
