There's "a cut" and then there's 30%. Pretending Patreon's cut is morally or even objectively equivalent to Apple's is a little bit of a stretch.

This reply has very strong "the average human does not eat 10 spiders a day; the average was thrown off by Spiders Georg who eats 10000 spiders a day" energy. Amazon does not have an exceedingly high profit margin, and my understa

You could probably model continuations using the wasm GC feature since you can then pass around function references and strongly typed continuation objects, but making it work certainly wouldn't be trivial.

Yeah, this is a historical design difference between Firefox's Spidermonkey JS engine and Chrome's V8. Spidermonkey uses (I'm simplifying here, there are cases where this isn't true) a trick where all values are 64-bits,

I think you're understating the cost of having to ship your own standard library with every wasm application - the chunk of stdlib used by a real app is bigger than 10kb. ICU data files are in the tens of megabytes, TZDB is a chunk of

This doesn't make a lot of sense. It would make the DMCA completely useless if enough people decide to pirate your work because you wouldn't be able to afford to issue the takedowns.

Depending on your OS Firefox will select from multiple rendering backends based on your GPU, driver etc. On Windows it may or may not be using DirectWrite for text rasterization as a general thing, and in some cases text might be rasterized

IMO if they had allowed Firefox onto the App Store (Mozilla have had working ports more than once AFAIK) it might have helped it hold onto market share - I think Apple is partly responsible for the Chrome monoculture.

Historically every time new keywords are added, they try to make them contextual so that existing code won't break. 'await' and 'yield' are both examples where a new keyword was added without (generally) breaking ex

The main scenario that caused me a lot of grief is temporary RAM usage spikes, like a single process run during a build that uses ~8gb of RAM or more for a mere few seconds and then exits. In some cases the oom killer was reaping the wrong
