O'Reilly, did a good line of 'Cookbooks', I think these were a result of many forum questions and answers (most likely iteratively refined) compiled into simple 'recipes'. Something like: How do I join two strings i

It's very tempting to friend anyone. But because of Facebook's tendency to then cross pollinate posts via comments etc. I'm more reluctant to do so (privacy of others). I post to Facebook almost as if I'd post in publi

You are basically saying your friends were a distraction. Which is a little rude (UK perspective).

I miss Facebook, or rather the circle of friends on it. I'm ideologically opposed to the idea of one big centralised thing like Facebook - but as an actual tool it's pretty spiffy.

I live in a small hamlet that uses a small treatment plant that ultimately runs off into a river. Treatment plants have gotten better, but after talking to residents, they are blissfully unaware of dos and don'ts of septic like system

Most places? In the UK it is, but my bladder/prostate totally gives up, and in that situation it's a choice between a public place or my trousers.

It's probably as simple that boiling water requires energy and is expensive.

It's a little more complicated than digging a hole in the ground. You have to ensure you don't poison the water table with run off or monsoons. Protect them from pests. Aerobic composting is simple when liquids are removed (uri

Perhaps it wasn't the best example, as the Tab/Window title could fall under Window management. But fine, if you just want minimal chrome, perhaps Chrome will do. Parent said feature-rich. My point really is that there are tech

Feature wise, I always think there isn't much between the big brand browsers without extensions. They could do so much more. They may be better at CSS, JS and have some good debug tools in them these days, but as actual web browsing

Can pretty much do all that in a Java applet, and have been able to for a long time.

Facebook got a foothold, because authoring tools sucked so bad. That's ignoring the magic of some of their social tooling. But sharing digital content with your own intended audience could be achieved in a distributed manner. I know

I'd have thought the best fix for misinfo, is having a good audit trail of links. References. And these must end at a source/s.

I don't think that's a browser issue. More an authoring issue. You could serve up pages as text files, with as little html as a link.

I love the idea of building on site with site materials. Rammed earth housing - is an example. Mouldings/hoardings are brought in, but if you do sections at a time, you don't need that much. Labour is the intensive part. If you

Little irritations like: A form is not allowed to be a child element of a table, tbody or tr. There are workarounds.

One was that you once had to wait for the deepest nested table to render before the rest. And there used to be tables in tables in tables.
